Some would disagree with one aspect of that write up-but it's close enough :)

Everyone seems to have their own twist on this matter...

Braap,
If the "O" rings are fresh, you shouldn't need and RTV sealant. The o ring won't melt, but they tend to go hard after a while and lose their sealing quality.
The goop that's leaking out of your header pipe isn't caused by poor sealing at the cylinder, it's caused by overly rich jetting.
Put on fresh springs and "o" rings, get your jetting right and your problems will be cured for good.

Well, When i pulled the pipe off i don't believe any O-rings in were in there. But they will be in there soon enough. And i wasn't gunna use RTV on the around where the pipe connects to the motor. I was gunna use some for where the pipe connects to the silencer. As for the jetting, Yes i know its too rich. But I don't have the time to jet it myself right now. And being as I have never done it before it would probably take forever. I wonder if there was someone in my area who could do it for me?

This week is looking to be a good one! On wed my fmf pipe spring and o ring kit will be in along with the spring puller  ;)

And on thurs my new Jersey, Pants, Renthal Bar pads "For the Renthal Handle bars of course :)" My oil plug and some stickers i bought :)

Now for the questions. I figure RTV stuff shouldn't go where the pipe connects to the motor as it may be too hot and with  new springs and an o ring is shouldn't need it right? And i plan on using the RTV to get a solid seal where the pipe connects to to the silencer.

guys, guys, guys. There is room for everyone's opinion lol.

Anyways, Pulled the pipe and silencer today and got them both completely oiless. gunna get the FMF pipe and o-ring kit as i heard its the best. About to go to walmart to get some clamps for the exhaust hose "as obviously i had to cut the old ones off :)" And as somebody mentioned before to get some RTV and I did. Picked some up at the AutoZone a few days ago. So everything is nice and clean and will be sealed perfect  ;D

Which track are you going to? And have you gone ridding at Croom yet? It would be best to start riding at a place like Croom or go on school day at your track and go with the beginers to start with. Most of the guys at local track are very fast hard to learn with.

Bartow Motocross is my local track. And no haven't gone to croom. Haven't gone anywhere yet. Some buds of mine who ride quads invited me to go out to Suburban Estates in Holopaw Florida, since they own land out there. there is mud, sand, clay, and everything in between.
