Same here.  And if someone develops a one-stroke internal-combustion engine that's got more power and less weight than a two-stroke, I say let the one- two- and four-strokes still race 250 v 250 v 250.  If that means these new one-strokes come in and wipe out all the two-strokes, they will have genuinely earned it.  May the best engine win.  It makes no sense to have displacement handicaps at all!  All they're doing is trying to put them on an equal footing for power.  Well shit, if you're going to do that, just say "no more than X horsepower."  It's the same thing they're doing now, except that way they'd actually be honest about their intentions.

Is this Maico a 440 or only a 400?  Well in all the confusion, I forgot myself.
But considering this is a 1978 Magnum, the best-handling bike in the world, you have to ask yourself one question.
Do you feel lucky, punk?

maybe it's my personality, but i would have a VERY hard time writing a letter to the AMA without ridiculing the rules. Yes cooler heads prevail, but the rules are so unfair that it's hard not to be totally honest and call it for what it is. I'd rather shame them into changing the rules than anything. Forget that it's just an engine, it's the PRINCIPLE of the whole thing. I mean people who set rules are supposed to be fair and just. Fucking rule really sticks in my craw

While this is the way I had handled it in the beginning, I have found that I gain much more ground when I back it off a notch (well sometimes 3 or 4 notches!  :P :P )

burn1986 BCC'd me on the letters he sent to the AMA and the manufacturers that do make two-strokes. He is certainly a much better politician that I am!! The way he wrote them was brilliant.

The difference between what he wrote and what I have written in the past is immense. My illusion is that burn1986 will start a conversation, were as my stuff was probably deleted before they got two paragraphs into it.

Which way do you think will help the cause more???
Life is short.

Smile while you still have teeth!
