Husqvaras' Rumored DI/Street Legal 2T
« on: August 22, 2012, 01:35:34 AM »
It was great to read about Husqvarna possibley bringing out a 300cc. direct injected/street legal smoker! Hopefully this happens very soon.I noticed in TSM's article however that it would have about 40 plus HP & to be honest I really wish they could squeeze about 10 to 12 more HP's out of their DI 2-stroke.Does anybody else on here have any opinions or info about this future direct injected 2-stroke?

i believe they're trying to detune the street legal smokers so the average folk can ride it, of course when moto guys get on it they're used to around 50 + on the 250's and more on the 300's. That's really the only explanation i can think of behind them being that low on hp. But just think, it'll be a super torque laden easy riding machine that will be fun as hell to ride on the street
the only really "race" street legal smokers are long gone (aprilia, rgv's, etc)

simple:  reduce piston speed and engine loads = less hp = more hours between rebuilds...

who in there right mind would buy a road legal DI adventure bike  (dual sport) if it needed rebuilding after every adventure :P

40-45hp will be plenty, but Im sure someone will make an aftermarket pipe and powercommander style kit for it.

when they bring this bike out (whether KTM, Husky, gasgas or TM), I will buy it straight away and put some supermoto wheels on it.

when they bring this bike out (whether KTM, Husky, gasgas or TM), I will buy it straight away and put some miles on it! And knobbies. And bark busters, and a steering damper. I.E, make it a true street legal enduro bike. I HOPE THE MANUFACTURERS SEE THESE POSTS THAT SAY THE WALLET IS OPEN FOR THIS BIKE!

40HP is fine. I have a blast on my 22 HP 1973 yamaha 360.

Two guys on my local dual sport forum have two strokes. One a 300 GasGas another a KTM. The KTM rider puts SM wheels and a big tank on when he does a lot of roads or dirt roads. Then for straight dirt he uses the dirt wheels and smaller tank. I have pictures of both bikes:
