here are some pics, he literally just brought it home
the bike has rebuilt forks and shock, new wheel bearings in the wheels, the only thing wrong with it really is that it needs a new chain roller because its rubbing on the frame, and that the gas tank needs to be flushed and the carb needs to be cleaned, and it needs a front tire. it kicks over fine with good comp. but before we try and ride it we need to get the chain thing figured out
other than those things the bike is in great shape, i was expecting a pile when he brought it home, we got it for 1 grand, it has the title, a old magazine from europe that has the bike on the cover (the bike was white in europe in 79, the only year they were white) and he have my dad some nice vintage yamaha riding pants, and a few other little things, like air filter/oil and some little parts
i'll keep you guys up on the bike, we plan to do some cool things with this,
i think its a answer silencer but i'm not sure bc there is no logo or sticker on it, an the front number plate isn't the correct one
we plan to race this bike, so it will not be a museum piece, and i think it will be a cool thing to do, like i said my dad had one of these this exact year when he was 19 and he always wanted to find one again, he wanted to have a newer one and one that he had way back when, it'll be cool because we have a 06 yz, and now we have this 79 yz, he says if he ever goes down to one bike, the new one is going to be sold and he's keeping the 79 until he absolutely has to get rid of it, which i doubt will ever happen
