Mahle is a massive company (they are now building complete multi cylinder powerplants) and may provide manufacturing services for Wossner (a small family run company) but it appears that the two companies are separate entities.
Hey Opfermann, you can get mineral oil at your local drugstore. That Rieger shock on your new Maico is THE most durable, longest lasting shock on the market.Take the plastic KTM waterpump impellor and use a slingshot to fire it over your neighbour's house.Get a metal replacement. My hydraulic clutch slave cylinder used to weep a bit and the clutch would creep so I installed a one size thicker o-ring.End of problem.Install grease fittings on all the rear linkage pivot points.Keep a close eye on the rear drive side wheel bearing. If that Keihin gives you problems stick a 40mm oval bore Bing on the 500.The power will be silky smooth. The design of the radiator shrouds and gastank was such that I didn't have to make rad guards for this bike.
Stick your new Maico on a stand and put your 83 Maico on a stand beside it.Notice the difference in footpeg locations. If you move the 04's footpegs down and forward to a location closer to the 83's,the new Maico will be more comfortable and even handle better. The power on the new Maicos is smooth to the point that it will fool you. You'll find very soon that you are going much faster then you thought and you may get into trouble.Call up Drew Smith and order a W.E.R. steering damper.
These newer Maicos come loaded with high end components and are very well made. You'll find that the bike requires less maintenance then your friends Japanese bikes and you'll spend a lot more time riding.Enjoy!
