Thanks for the photos and videos. Would have been a great day. Would be interested to find out why Canard didnt ride after confirming that he was going to be racing. I wonder if his Honda bosses had anything to do with it ??  ::)     ::)

125 races were always awesome to watch. That class needs to be re-introduced at the pro level !!!

He was saying that Honda would not let him ride.  I know the knee jerk reaction is to say Honda hates the 2 stroke but... their decision might have been influnced by the fact that Justin Bougle (sp?) who just signed with Geico Honda (Trey's old ride) last week rung his bell pretty bad during practice at Trey's house Thursday.

Is anyone else from this area?

Was going to watch the longer video but read that the creator loaded it with music. Disappointing.

That was a massively advertised race with money available for several of the races, and the highlight, the 125 race, had only about 8 guys in it. What was going on there ?? Did no one decide to ride cos they knew Pastrana would be there ??   :o

Racers get hurt whether at practice, or at a race, Racing motorcycles whether it be MX, harescramble, or what ever, is a dangerous sport, we all know and accept that.  Honda does not want one their top racers show casing a bike they no longer produce.  It's that simple...  They want to bury the smoker...  The Honda name carries a lot clout, but we are not gong away.  Other MFG's are begining to produce smokers, and I think Honda will be second guessing their business decision in a few years. (If they all ready haven't.)

I'm thinking they already are second guessing. It's 2010. over 10 years since the four stroke was introduced. If Honda was right, there would be no more smokers. But they were wrong. Ten years and still countless smokers at my local track.

I posted this on another thread, but I think its worth posting here too...

I stopped by my local KTM / Yamaha / Suzuki / Kawi dealer last night to drool over a new 2011 KTM XC 300.  (No money, no new bike).  I was talking to the salesman, and he mentioned he heard Kawi and Suzuki were thinking about importing 2 stroke's again.  This is the 1st I heard of this, and it may be a bunch of bunk...  but it makes perfect business sense.

I know Suzuki has really limited the number of bikes its imported into the states.  They like all other MFG's have a lot of unsold inventory.  Both Suzuki and Kawi still produce smokers, so why not capitalize on a segment of the market that is still strong and growing.  As the salesman mentioned, he was surprised the 300 was still there...  "We sell the two strokes as fast as we can get them in."  He also noted , that they have no used smokers for sale, just thumpers...  hmmmm

The little things in life that make you go hmmmm

Gosh, who really knows with these crazy manufacturers. That is good news though.
