Thought I might share this with some people here. Travis showed up at a track owned by Robbie Reynard this weekend, and along with Kenny Bartrum, Colt Nichols, and a few others put on one hell of a show. There was a good 2t showing in all classes and usually near or at the front.

Exactly, you can't post news like that without so much as a picture, let alone video :D

My dad and I went out and watched the races this last weekend. There were alot of people there. For anyone who hasn't met TP he's really a pretty cool guy. He walked right up to my dad and myself and asked us how we were doing. Canard was there, but he was in street clothes. I never heard on why he didn't race. Anyways, here's some pics and I'll try to post a video of the first lap.

Thanks!

I want moar!!!!!
I luv how big tp looks like on the rm125. So did he end up winning?
-
Pretty much. They were only scheduled to do a 5 lap race, so when he got to lap 5 he stopped. Not sure why, but they sent them out for two more laps. He fell so far behind that he was only able to get back to 2nd. I believe he was going to race again later in the afternoon, but I had to leave so I'm not sure if he did or not.
-
Awesome Travis is the Elivis of mx, you see the trick he pulled with the other riders on him. haha Go Travis

Thats cool as, that track looked beautiful, lots of grip there.
-
Well it mite be a good video but I could not get past the 2 min mark.
Can't stand the shit fuck music. I wish people would leave the music off I want to hear
the 2 stroke motor's.
-
Thanks for the photos and videos. Would have been a great day. Would be interested to find out why Canard didnt ride after confirming that he was going to be racing. I wonder if his Honda bosses had anything to do with it ?? ::) ::)
125 races were always awesome to watch. That class needs to be re-introduced at the pro level !!!
-
you are right DESERTFOX19
fucking song
let us hear the real music,2 stroke that is :D
-
He was saying that Honda would not let him ride. I know the knee jerk reaction is to say Honda hates the 2 stroke but... their decision might have been influnced by the fact that Justin Bougle (sp?) who just signed with Geico Honda (Trey's old ride) last week rung his bell pretty bad during practice at Trey's house Thursday.
Is anyone else from this area?

Was going to watch the longer video but read that the creator loaded it with music. Disappointing.

here's a short video of the start.
Travis Pastrana 125cc 2 stroke race, Reynard Raceway (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rf438FgsSzY#)

That was a massively advertised race with money available for several of the races, and the highlight, the 125 race, had only about 8 guys in it. What was going on there ?? Did no one decide to ride cos they knew Pastrana would be there ?? :o

Racers get hurt whether at practice, or at a race, Racing motorcycles whether it be MX, harescramble, or what ever, is a dangerous sport, we all know and accept that. Honda does not want one their top racers show casing a bike they no longer produce. It's that simple... They want to bury the smoker... The Honda name carries a lot clout, but we are not gong away. Other MFG's are begining to produce smokers, and I think Honda will be second guessing their business decision in a few years. (If they all ready haven't.)
-
I'm thinking they already are second guessing. It's 2010. over 10 years since the four stroke was introduced. If Honda was right, there would be no more smokers. But they were wrong. Ten years and still countless smokers at my local track.

And more showing up everyday.

I posted this on another thread, but I think its worth posting here too...
I stopped by my local KTM / Yamaha / Suzuki / Kawi dealer last night to drool over a new 2011 KTM XC 300. (No money, no new bike). I was talking to the salesman, and he mentioned he heard Kawi and Suzuki were thinking about importing 2 stroke's again. This is the 1st I heard of this, and it may be a bunch of bunk... but it makes perfect business sense.
I know Suzuki has really limited the number of bikes its imported into the states. They like all other MFG's have a lot of unsold inventory. Both Suzuki and Kawi still produce smokers, so why not capitalize on a segment of the market that is still strong and growing. As the salesman mentioned, he was surprised the 300 was still there... "We sell the two strokes as fast as we can get them in." He also noted , that they have no used smokers for sale, just thumpers... hmmmm
The little things in life that make you go hmmmm

Gosh, who really knows with these crazy manufacturers. That is good news though.
