Yeah, I did the online subscription and forwarded the summary page to Al Ludington. It turned out good. I think Subtexel and KTM150Rippa were involved in this test.

You are correct... do you know if that one racer in the article was Subtexel's brother??

i rode piru mx today. Karel Kramer (one of dirt riders' editors) was there.  he was riding a honda 450 but the kid with him was on the ktm 150.   ...#150, go figure.
the bike sounded sweet.
btw, i was riding an 06 ktm 125sx.  i just got it yesterday from a rich kid who hardly rode it at all. still on the oem tires!  i'm impressed with its power.  i had a 03 rm125, built in to a 144 by Eric Gorr.  this ktm 125 had more power, bottom to top.
i did manage to catch the 150's rear wheel and stayed on it till i got tired...

so i ran right out and bought the issue. Terrific test is right! they did a thorough comparo, using different tracks, riders, skill levels, the works. I think the 150 won but i'm biased (the pro's went fastest on the 150 so i'm happy) but regardless, the 150 did very, very well. What's amazing is that in this day and age, the supposedly antiquated 2 stroke can spot the 4 stroke $1,400 msrp and a 73% displacement advantage and STILL win!!! The way the article reads, it's so close between these two that i'd imagine the 250SX would absolutely annihilate the 250SX-F, which in my way of thinking would be the fair comparison, not this one.

They did make a big deal out of the 4 stroke's torque curve and i'll admit the dyno shows that its got several ft/lbs on the 150 until the higher revs. That translates into what all the riders said - that the 250SX-F is easier to ride out of corners. But again, it's got 73% more engine for fucks sake!

Now more than ever after reading this test, we need an apples-to-apples, mano-y-mano 2stroke versus 4 stroke comparo.

You mean like this???

http://twostrokemotocross.com/2008/08/yz250-vs-yzf250-by-mxa/

Although this test is from 2008, MXA recently updated it for 2010... but it was basically the same exact test.. look it up on their site!

That is correct. :)

Picture of him is one I took as well, so my photography was kind of published :p He's also in another pic racing against Pete Peterson.

For sure man, thanks again for setting this all up :)

That 150SX was spanking the 250F int the hands of the pros... Fun as heck to watch.

Kind of funny actually, I'm sure this is why the AMA is a little reluctant to approve the rule change.

Kind of funny actually, I'm sure this is why the AMA is a little reluctant to approve the rule change.

Only one of the PRO test riders (FMF guy long hair don't remember his name) disliked the 150SX, then again he got spanked on during both timed runs on each bike (and spanked hard). Most others loved it, the novices (Pete Peterson, my little brother and some other kid) leaned towards the 4 stroke @ 395 but loved the 150SX @ Piru.

Honestly, the 150SX is geared more towards advanced / pro riders, and it showed during the testing (they absolutely railed on it).
