Technical / Need fork seal replacement instructions / vids
« on: August 07, 2012, 03:24:30 PM »
I've had the bike for 4 years, and have never changed the fork oil, or serviced the forks.

Wow 4 years, that is overdue I do mine once every 2 or 3 months. 40 to 50 hours of riding actually.

IMO most of all times the forkseal is dirty and with a business card you can clean the seal quite easily.
Take the dust seal down, and push the business card between the seal and the  fork leg, go around there once or twice till clean oil drops out.

You could refill the forks but preferible is a complete oil change. I prefer atf, I change fork oil every 40 hours.

Get some seal safers mount those and forget about dirty seals.  ;)

When you ride track your jetting has to differ between a drag race and a track day specially when the drag race is quite long.
Street or open dirtroad WOT requiere quite a lot on the main, tell me where is your needle at? I run 4 rth on the JD red needle and 3 rd on the OEM in my 250s.

Technical / FMF pipes. SST vs Fatty

Yeap I know, occasionally I browse ebay and have a look out for pipes. OEM, Doma, PC are my favourites. The Doma pipe is huge compared to the others. You need to look for those quite often before a good deal shows up. But pipes are articles which get wasted over time.

Technical / cr125 leaking HELP

Most likely the sprocket's seal if the sprocket is loose it also beginns to leak. Check the bearing behind the seal it likes to go if the chain is run too tight.

The bottom end had been recently replaced by the owner before the guy I bought it from, with a Hot Rods rod and new bearing and seals.

That makes it the work of the pre-pre-owner and it makes me wonder when "new" losses its value for you.  :o
I had to replace crank seals just after a few hours (20) of a bottom end rebuild.

Your best bet is to look up part numbers.

Sorry to hear that.

Have a look at those at ebay, your best bet to get those. S far I'm aware the 2000 and 2001 engines are identical but better make sure and compare those parts numbers.

Technical / 38 PKW Airstrike Carb from JD jetting

Thanks
I run the bike with vortex cdi and JD kit with the needle being on the 4rth, so mostlikely I stay with the PWK 38S.

The RM 250 car is a 39mm and the YZ's carb a 38mm I think so 1mm could make a difference, that at least is what I'm hoping.

if you want a large keihin with TPS, get a 39mm TPS from a late model RM250... cheap on ebay.

I got a '08 RM250 PWK here and wonder:
first how I do connect it to the YZ250 '09 I plan using it in and
second what would be the benefit vs the stock's PWK s?

Sorry for the highjacking  :-[

I would not rely just on the spark plug color, the head give you the idea where your jetting is.
And if the jetting is correct you would have a pool in the crank ca. 1 to 2mm of premix oil.

Advance timing makes the spark plug gray. I get a dark gray plug color but the head plus the pool in the crank tells me thet the jetting is correct. When ride harder and harder most people forget that they run the engine higher and need to put the jetting in the area of racing jetting.
