A New Blue KTM-300 Two-Stroke???
« on: July 07, 2010, 10:15:17 PM »
I just noticed on TSM's site that the Husaberg brand is coming out with their own version of a 300 2-stroke with e-start!That's GREAT news for all of us smoker fans!I did however notice when reading the comments about the new Berg that a few of the readers stated that the new Husaberg is just a blue version of the KTM-300xc-w but others said no it's not because it has a 6 speed transmission. The truth is,at least according to my local KTM dealership is that the 2011 KTM-300's are also going to have 6 speed transmissions! Both the XC as well as the XC-W which makes me very happy to know that when I go to buy a new KTM-300xc it too will have a 6 speed gearbox!Nonetheless it's still awesome to know that we'll have another brand of 2-stroke out there to choose from..!!! :D :P :)

So the Husaberg uses a KTM motor, is that what's happening here?

Is this Maico a 440 or only a 400?  Well in all the confusion, I forgot myself.
But considering this is a 1978 Magnum, the best-handling bike in the world, you have to ask yourself one question.
Do you feel lucky, punk?

I'm pretty sure Husaberg and KTM have the same owners these days

They should, but that doesn't mean they would :(. I sure hope HONDA wakes up soon. I really wouldn't hate the new Honda two strokes as it's not the people who make them that decided to stop making them, but some businessmen who probably can't even ride a motorcycle. I bet that Honda engineers were shocked even more then most of us when they heard "no more two strokes" :(. And having in mind all the rumors about the research they did in the two stroke field I sure hope that people in charge change their minds and restart the Honda two stroke line, I bet we would see some crazy stuff from them (in a very good way).

That is correct. The husaberg 2 strokes are ktm's in different colored plastic and the xc and xcw's are now 6 speeds.

Thanks for the update offroader.  I don't see a new ride in my near future, so I haven't been paying too much attention to the newer bikes.  At least I know when the time comes to get a new bike, to get an 2011...  Hell as slow as I am, I'd probably never see 6th gear anyway...   :D

The more the marrier, the euros are taking the Chevy -Pontiac, Ford -Mecury approach.....same basic platform different trim. I would like to see the pricing, one of them is probably a little cheaper than the other but basically the same bike.

Everyone always forgets Plymouth - Dodge.  Maybe it's because Daimler in their extremely finite wisdom decided to hand Plymouth the axe...

Woah, sorry, off-topic.

My heart will bleed as the Euro manufactors take more and more market share. ;) ;)

I am sure there is more to this bike then just a blue KTM.

Yeah there is more to it.It also says husaberg on it. :) They have dealers in europe that only sell husaberg and not ktm.KTM doesn't want customers walking out that want a 2t so they rebadged the ktm xcw's.The xcw's get the 6 speed but not the new chassis and plastics that the xc's and sx's get.

KTM purchased Husaberg in 1995, btw.
