Romaniacs
« on: June 28, 2010, 03:02:10 AM »
I don't know how many of you have heard of this race, but it's pretty big here in
Europe and many say it's the toughest Hard enduro race there is. The sixth edition of this competition is now under way. I always liked Romaniacs because of two reasons:

Firstly, there are soooo many two strokes there :D. Safe to say they outnumber thumpers by far. I have a hard time imagining a four stroke doing some of those things that the two strokes do out there, and I feel sorry for those who try and race on a four stroke :).

Secondly of course because this race is awesome :D.This year, on the first day, only 30 percent of all PRO class racers finished. ONLY 1 out of 60 or so EXPERT class racers finished, and none of the HOBBY class made it (about 80 participants). And this is just the first day :D.

Some of my countrymen tried to tackle this challenge last year. They practically destroyed the bike (it was a nice 250 cr) and made it to maybe day three if I remember right.

To give you the idea here's the video of this year's first day:

Red Bull Romaniacs 2010, Day 1

And some interresting stuff from years before:

Red Bull Romaniacs 2008 Prologue

Red Bull Romaniacs 2008 Compilation

I dream to try and do this myself some day, maybe even finish :D.

Man, those courses are pretty damn creative. I like that last shot of wheelying on the rooftop.

It would be fun to give it a shot, but I know I'd be smoked after the first hill section.

That is insane, some of the stuff, I could say I could do, not fast though, but most of it... Forget it.
I'd rather be riding...

I've first heard of this event in Dirt Rider last year. I have a friend who use to give me these magazines for free and I would read them to waste some time. So, one day he gave me one (can't remember which month) and I was flipping through the pages when I found the article about Romaniacs. I thought it was pretty cool, with all the insane obstacles. I heard there are a lot of crashes too. It looks like an awesome event to go to if I would go to Romania. ;D

Those guys have some serious "stones".
I was just reading about the Erzberg Rodeo where Taddy Blazusiak won his 4th consecutive race.
Only 15 riders out of 500 finished this years Erzberg !
You need some serious riding skills to enter these events.
Good to see Chris Birch doing well after the first day  ;D
If you don't fall off you are not going hard enough

Romaniacs and Erzberg are the two biggies.Last man standing sort of a US version on a smaller scale.I'd love to go to any of them. 8)
