Practice track diaries The Wick 338 03/25/18
« on: March 26, 2018, 04:26:41 PM »
Second Bike training session of the year took place at my favorite track, The Wick 338. The week leading up to the OP was not promising as the northeast was predicted to be hammered with a spring nor'easter, with the temps barely above freezing it had all the makings of cancellation as the first OP the week before was due to another nor'easter dumping lots of snow on we yanks. Thankfully the storm was a dud and the wick was open for business! It was another chance to shake off the ring rust and also break in my new Gaerne boots. The early morning was met with snow flurries and overcast skies, by the time we arrived at the track the sun was shinning and the temps rose quickly to a comfortable 40 something degrees. Track was roughing up quickly due to the mass of riders descending on the circuit, good training for sure. After 4 sessions, I had recaptured the mere mediocrity I have possessed in the past. Things are looking good! My son made his return to the track after a modest 2 year absence and my buddy Paul was there to to share stories and generally crack me up. Video review of boots to come...
