2st race event
« on: June 07, 2010, 01:01:33 PM »
Hi guys, just returned from a great weekends racing at the 2st Nationals from Hawkstone park here in the UK, 2 days of action from the 125, 250 and 500cc classes, just to hear the good old 2st's blasting up the famous hill was brilliant. Here's a link to some pics we took, not proffessional but thought some may like a look

Also, Alex Rach smoked the 500 class, no not on a hybrid but a 490 maico  8)

Dude that's sweet. Bet ya'll had a blast. You still have the ting of premix in your nose or what? I haven't seen a 500 in action in quite a while. I'm sure hearing and seeing them mob around the track is something to witness.

Thaks for sharing your pics. I may jack a couple for some wallpapers. ;)

I prefer bike numbers 38 and 66 myself.  Good to hear the law got laid down.

Is this Maico a 440 or only a 400?  Well in all the confusion, I forgot myself.
But considering this is a 1978 Magnum, the best-handling bike in the world, you have to ask yourself one question.
Do you feel lucky, punk?

That #38 maico smoked the 500 class, Alex Rach is a pro rider though and looked to be enjoying himself to, he even hole shot 2 or 3 out of the 5 moto's beating some very well prepped hybrid's, not just him mixing it though, there were around 6 older bikes in the top 15  8)

It dont matter what it is as long as it needs premix, race it

I'd rather a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

90% rider-10% bike actually, and Maico's have the 10% covered in spades. Hawkstone park is one track I would love to ride. I have old footage from about 1978, and it looks like the kind of track you dream about.
I noticed the #38 Maico has some of the Reiger shocks with externally adjustable dampening. The Reiger shock on my brothers 94 500 Maico was as good as an Ohlin's. Nice and plush on the square edge bumps and firm on the G-out landings.
Good photos, but we need to see more of the track. Thanks for putting them on.
