Four Sale.... Somebody?... Anybody..... Please?.....

You're right, JETZ.

Instead of copying and pasting the Vital MX thread, here's the link to it:

Thanks,

I think 4 stroke dirtbikes are a phase, kind of like "Glam Rock" in a way. You see the whole world subscribing to it, and you wonder how everyone could be choking down so much Kool Aid and Spam... Then 10 Years later, nothing's left but the timeless stuff from before and after..

Sorry, but that was some ridiculous formatting. :P

Is this Maico a 440 or only a 400?  Well in all the confusion, I forgot myself.
But considering this is a 1978 Magnum, the best-handling bike in the world, you have to ask yourself one question.
Do you feel lucky, punk?

Yeah that was ultra hard to read, but I did manage to get through it without reading everything 3 times. Very true of the times. I am glad I dont have a second hand four stroke to sell. Lets hope that these guys selling their bikes are considering buying and riding two strokes, and not leaving the sport altogether.

My friend and I go over this about once a week. LOL.  My CR500 would pull roughly $5000.  My CR125 06 would go for roughly $2500-3000.  The CR250's I once could find around here for $1500 aren't anywhere to be found.  It is definitely supply vs demand.  There is less and less 2 strokes because more and more are demanding them and obviously there is a limited supply.  Unlike 4 strokes where there seems to be an unlimited supply.  Wait a week and another one you been waiting for will pop up.  I've been waiting and waiting for a good priced low hour CR250 from 05 up.  I've been looking for 2 years now.  Last guy had his 07 for $5000 used.  It either sold or he kept it.  Because it isn't listed anymore.

That's funny. The 2 stroke is rising again! It's amazing it took almost a decade for people to realize that 4 strokes were overpriced.

You're right! It shouldn't ever take this long for people to realize they are being sold on a bad idea. It would be even better if more people knew what a bad idea smelled like so they could avoid buying into it at the beginning...

Unfortunately for the non-sheeple in a population, the sheeple who make up the vast majority can be effectively sold on nearly any idea, no matter how stupid it is. This means that every once in a while, you'll find yourself wondering why the radio is filled with boy bands, why property taxes are 10 or 12 k per houshold in a state where public services are threadbare to say the least, and also why the world got all kissy faced with 4 stroke motocross bikes that were Heavier, Hard to start, Slower (check out ANY supercross all the way up to 05), More expensive IN EVERY WAY, AND shorter on service life while being many times more prone to catastrophic failures, from the day the first ones farted off the factory floors.

With enough shiny pro 4 stroke TV talk from properly coached race announcers/bike pushers, plus a load of half truths in magazines along with some well placed omissions of fact, you can apparently sell just about any basket case to a lot of people.

Congratulations... Here's your bridge deed.

Thanks,

Jim

Maybe AJ  At Service Honda can start re-fitting them all with 2-strokes He would be doing the world a favor.

The overpriced lawnmower owners clearly don't get it. In that thread I see a lot of head scratching, blaming the economy, etc... all the while the smoker owners are trying to enlighten them. I found it to be a rather entertaining thread. The dirt bike economy isn't dead, the time bombs are trying to kill it though.
The AMA 4 stroke displacement rule is simply the AMA's Rich Kid's Handicap Rule!
