yah, the guy that took the video always seems to have his helmet cam on and does a good job. im not sure what camera it is but i think its a gopro. i think that will be my next toy!!! he runs the 38 exp class and said that he had not been on a 2stroke since 1989, haha, he is a natural rider though when you watch him.
as far as my concerns go with displacement, i still cant give a clear answer on that. i mean most importantly im having FUN FUn FUn, more fun than i have ever had on my 450's. im winning races and i am faster now than i ever was on the 450. my transponder lap times are cutting down by seconds at most tracks i race on. you might ask how? well i feel its do to not riding like a lazy sloth any more on the 450. now that i am actually riding the bike, using the clutch, shifting gears, using throttle control etc... i feel that my skills are developing 10 fold what they were on a 4t. i find myself riding the track now, not just following the same BS inside drift wide 4t race line. all in all i ride a mix of sx and mx style tracks and i do have to ring that yz hard in the loamy sandy tracks but its just so fun. im yet to get a hole shot, in fact im usally about mid pack off the gate, sometimes to the front or sometimes dead last, haha, but it doesnt stop me one bit. i just put my head down after the first corner and start picking them off 1 by 1.
so let me talk about maint. and money, i got my yz toward the beginning of the year and i just put a new top end and clutch n her. im under 400 bucks and that includes freshening up all my suspension fluids etc.. this time last year i had a new crf450 same time frame same amount of hrs and races and i was over a grand for the same maint. WHY? because of the gosh darn valves, thats why. and the fact that i cant do that shit myself.
here is another one for you. my crf from last year took over an extra grand in suspension to get it to work for me. do to very poor valving etc... my yz i rode for 2 months bone stock and just changed the springs recently to stiffen it up a little but other wise it works great.
