The great piston poll
« on: May 11, 2010, 02:00:32 PM »
Everyone has their favorite piston.
Some people dislike certain brands.

Some people buy certain brands because they are cheaper.
If you are going to post a comment, tell us why you use that brand.
If you are going to bag a brand please make it from first hand experence , not because a friend once used one blaaa, blaa, blaa.
If you don't fall off you are not going hard enough

Mahle pistons are the best,There is a reason Porsche, Harley Davidson and other companies use them. They never seem to wear out in my Maicos. Lousy Piston? Elkos, I always seemed to be picking the fragments of one out of a Rotax crankcase.

What the H is a Mitaka? Some sort of Aussie thing made of vegemite and fosters or something :o
I like Vertex. When I replaced the piston in my KTM I was wavering between oem and Vertex-until I turned the piston over and looked up inside and saw Vertex stamped on it.That made the choice rather easy.Failing that,I like forged pistons as well so I'd also vote Wiseco.I think they had a bad rap from years ago but I think they make a good product.
I'd rather a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

Mitaka pistons are made from recycled baby fur seal's,Coca Cola and Dingo tails.

Actually Taiwanise.
The importer here says they are the biggest seller in Europe.
Anyone confirm this ?
I would be surprised.!!!

If that's what they're made of and they're the biggest seller in Europe, one would imagine they're likely O.E. Maico.Jetz will likely have some more info....... :D

Now you know ford , that there is a little bit of Canada in every piston.

1 bonus is that you can also use the piston as a hat to keep your head warm. :D

I've heard of this company but I don't personally know anyone who uses it. Pro X, Vertex, Wiseco are often used.

I have only ever used OEM or Wiseco, which I have had good experiences with both so no complaints from me.
