I think what you need is a Tandem twin 700cc, cylinders tilted at 30 / 40 degrees forward, gearbox underneath, one chamber forward and under the bike, other out under the seat. 140 HP. Chrome molly ladder frame and spoke wheels. Nice fat noisy chambers. Well that's what I would like! I've often thought about such a cafe racer. As 2T says anything with Rotary Valve.
Although I do have patterns for a three cylinder ( 1050cc ) case reed engine just needs a gearbox cases added to the pattern. I haven't owned a road bike in 30 years ( XS1100 last road bike ) and look at the modern road bikes with distaste, all the same. A large twostroke twin or three would be quite nice I'd say.
Good looking Honda though.

Problem I've seen with the triples (banshee billet triple motors) is that the width is extraordinary because the clutch gear is on the end of the crankshaft.
So the motor is the width of a triple plus a clutch basket.

Is it possible to put the clutch gear between cylinders 2 and 3?
That would do wonders for making the engine compact :)

Carlo Mattaroti has already done similar though just 250cc.

I love how this thread went from air cooled two stroke motors to 100% hand machined 250 twins punching out 70-80hp+. lol indeed.

2T , that would appear to be both cranks turning the same way, 180 degree firing? On the 250 shown. Single idler in the middle ( clutch gear ). Same as this one only a 700cc. I had a lot of trouble with the gear to crank attachment on this engine. Perhaps the gears were just too small.
The three cylinder cases shown have the take off between cylinder 1 and 2
These are aviation engines with only a gear reduction. I have posted these before.
Make a great cafe racer engine ( three cylinder should be good for about 200HP ) Where would all the chambers go? Perhaps reverse the middle cylinder? Sorry don't want to hijack this post, just wouldn't it be a great project with a little time and money spare?

uniflow,
so as not to get offtopic any more:

Can you email me with a ballpark of what you think it would cost to mate a gearbox up to that motor + produce the motor.
you made the very smart choice to put the gear in between cylinders 1 and 2!

I think I wouldn't mind building a 1070 triple in a year or two once the other projects are out of the way

Look up Carlo Mattarozzi on FB (he's got a VERY nice Villa 490) he just made it for something to do. I think the crank gears are paired and the clutch runs off one gear Neil he just made it and put it in a frame he made, just to do track days on. Carlo is apparently a old school Italian craftmen with a CNC shop at his diposal. He recently made Morbidelli MBA copy engines.

Ok, screw this!!! I'm gonna do something smaller... Like a Zundapp KS125 1976. Just gotta build another seat and strip it of everything unecessary and it'll be one sweet cafe racer.

Ok i've decided to use this as a base: (If i can find one!  :P )

Then make it look like this:

But with all red tank and side covers with the exception for the "ZUNDAPP" and the "KS125 SPORT" logos and a fat expansion chamber.
I will swap the fork with one from the later ks125 models with disc brake on the front. (Cus i want that...) Then i will look into if it would be possible to machine a hub out of one of those solid alu wheels that the newer models sport. (DISC BRAKE) Gonna snatch the hydraulic clutch and front brake master cylinders from a bike which ive seem to have forgotten the name of.. Then steal the slave cylinder from whatever hydraulic clutch kit i can find for a cheap buck. Then it's just a ****load of small things left, that no one will probably even notice. Like relocating the horn to underneath the tank. *Sigh* Lots of things to do... First thing is to find a suitable bike that's not too far away and is for sale.  :D I will create a build thread as soon as i get a hold of that damn KS125.
