There's a track exactly like that half an hour from my house. Our club used to race there twice a year. I rode it once. It's a bunch of man made bumps in a flat field. The sand is 18" deep. It's welll watered, and groomed, and a rutted disaster after the first few races. I'm embarrassed to say that they hold a Canadian national there. Such is the sad state of modern motocross that people accept tracks like that.

Rutted disaster tracks sort the wallies from the winners. Plenty of blokes at my local track are all go for the first hour or so. When the ruts get deep they get scared.

A rutted sandy mess in a flat filed is a tobacco farm, not a motocross track. Real motocross separates the men from the "extreme" wannabes  ;D

Deep ruts suck. However, they say a good rider can ride in all conditions. I hate them with a passion, but I am able to (bearly) ride in them. Slowly as I may be, they teach you. Though I would never pick them over a nicely groomed dirt track  ;D

pussy  ;) That in itself, can be an advantage. In fact practising in deep ruts can give you a huge advantage as the day wears on. The trick is to lean. Alot of people think the slower they go through them the safer they are but thats not true. Go at a decent speed and lean your bike over a decent way.

crow hill suggests just that. it is built on a hill. not flat not rutty except for jump faces. its your typical mx track. and if you don't like it rough take up supermoto.

I know how to ride in them, I just prefer not to. The only rut I like is the inside corner rut. I hate the straight away ones, but I can still do them. I have been to the track since march  :( Work gets in the way, but with out work there would be no track  :-X
