Bottom end as in your crank came through?? And how big a hole and where is it. What are you riding?
The problem with patching a hole isn't an issue with leaking its a strength and alignment issue. Your crankcases are casting and machined to accept bearings in alignment. If in patching you don't keep bearings aligned or sacrifice the integrity you will destroy all the new components you just installed. Your tranny gears and drive all put stresses on the cases.
So I guess i could have not put you to sleep and just said ( I wouldnt) Look around you can find cases sometimes cheap.

Yeah saw that after I posted, try eBay, I have gotten lucky a few times there. And you have other issues than just the cases.

I'm gonna say its time for new cases... That sucks though man. Remember to keep up your maintanence of the crank aswell, alot of people think that the piston is the only thing they need to worry about. Rule of thumb for 250s is usually about 3 pistons to a bottom end. You can go more than that, but if you're racing and riding hard I wouldn't recommend it.

If I were you, I would hit ebay for a couple of things: Left crank case, right crank case, and a clymer manual for your bike. Then hit up rockymountain atvmc for a crank kit aswell as a case splitter if necessary.

for the love of god, don't just get rid of that CR. Repair it, and keep riding it, I would kill for one and so would alot of other people. Fantastic year for the CR.

Save your money.  Sell the 01, You could probably get a decent price for it even with a blown engine
because it's a sought after model.

If you still want to ride something, check out an XR or CRF.

Avoid CRFs at all costs, but an XR would be a decent choice. If you're not racing MX, XRs or an older model 300 two stroke would be a good way to go.
