I might have seen that cylinder before. I'm trying to sort out an elegant fuel rail. Battery is in, new special lite weight type ( lithium ion? ), computer is attached, wiring is underway. Last big job is to fit the new flywheel and stator. Then download Bighorn soft wear and kick.  :<img src=" title="Roll Eyes" class="smiley">

I just asked google what it ment..

Have long been circulating rumors that Yamaha intends, 2014 new 2 -? Stroke models on the market. Now on the Internet the following picture was spotted showing a cylinder together with the injectors. On inquiry, it is however in this picture unfortunately not an official development project by Yamaha.

This and the speculation that? Yamaha test rider Erik Eggens when MXGP at Valkenswaard will use a two-stroke could be a sign that the rumors about the new 2 -? Stroke Yamahas are true. We keep working on the matter and to report as soon as there is news. "

I told you Neil,

build your engine, get the dyno curves for the disc valve yz360 and then arrange a meeting with the japanese to sell it to them.

just make sure you put black boxes around all the trick bits with question marks (?) on them so they cant copy you until the cheques are payed :D

Yes not so much as a "black box" but at least a "red herring" . Divert attention away from the trick bits. Some time ago when I was running the Uniflow, we had the engine in a jet boat for load testing. I damaged the gearbox with oil shortage ( gearbox sump not big enough )  so I machined out an extra housing to bolt on, extend the volume. In a hurry at night I grabbed and used a 10 x 1.25 pitch tap for the filler bung. Once I tapped it I could find no bolt to fit in the hole, bugger. So I used a spark plug as a oil tank filler bung.
After that I don't know how many times I was asked what that spark plug was for and why was there on an extra cylinder down by the gearbox, It did make me think that this is a good way of putting people off track, diverting attention, ( if needed ).
No Jeram I'm only interested in a unit for myself and if successful some unit's for others as requested. The Japanese could easily do what I'm doing but they choose not to!

N.D.H.

The Japanese Factories have a serious case of that. Not Designed Here - and a million variations on that theme.

I'd say Yamaha have a s***load of 2t Tech just waiting to be used.

They've their DFI Outboards, so, they haven't given up on 2ts, besides still doing the YZs.

I hope to see them do their every "generation" kick to the teeth of the other manufacturers. Their last big one was the YZfs, so, I hope it may be 2ts.

With the others having given up (in public) on 2ts, it could be a massive, killer kick to their teeth from Yamaha.

Lets hope it's at least a bit innovative, like Uniflows ideas.

Yes, I do live in hope, but better that, than not.

At least you live in hope with respect to Yamaha. Doing the same with Maico would seem to be a less profitable venture...  ;D

Please don't confuse MI with Maico Fahrzeugfabrik GMBH. The Maisch family made immense contributions to offroad motorcycle design/technology and it's a shame (there, said it again) that Otto and Wilhelm aren't around now to stir things up.

No confusion at all.

Do we see new Maicos around? Even in name only?

Not so much.
