Meanwhile, on the other side of the track, MXA Dennis Stapleton gets ready to spin some laps on another unique test bike...very unique.

looks like a new ktm with a cr500 engine, talk about the best of both worlds

i forget which one but one of those motors is right side drive? ive seen it done before though, but apparently its a lot more work than just making some new mounts dropping the motor in

well your not going to just drop in a jap motor either. must have to do with the kx power valve.

I read a little while back that Elmer from fmf was building a kx500/ktm 250sx bike to run in baja.... I'm guessing it came to fruition....
I have seen new ktm's with 380's mounted. Those would be sweet too....

From what I understand putting a KTM380 mill into a newer chassis is pretty easy. Drill out the rear motor mount bosses in the cases for the larger pivot, fab new mount plates, ditch the 380's torque chamber and it all fits -- even the carb boot. At least that's what I have heard anyway.

Sure the bike in the pic is not a new Maico?

(ducking now)

Yamaha CT3, RT3, MX125, SC500, Toy Prius, Diesel F250 (it all balances out)
