"Not really wtf factoryX,I have an 02,which is basically the same as your bike, and it's a lot different from the new one. It's sounds good to say I have the same as a new bike, but there are many changes throughout year to year that have improved it to where it is now.The many differences between '13 and mine are obvious when you have actually seen one in person."

03 had a frame geometry change, 04 48mm KYB open chamber vs the 46mm on the 03, 05 Aluminum frame same geometry as the 03 but two lbs lighter, SST forks, 06 everything the same except the SSS forks/shock, 07-10 same bike no changes except maybe front fork axle, 11-12 detuned motor, yzf front axle. The rest is minor and will bolt up no problem. No really, same exact bike. The pipe will interchange 02-2013, some even say that the earlier 99 pipes swap as well. You could build an low 02-03-04 yz250 using new parts, and still be under the actual cost of a new bike that you'll have to fix due to yamaha plugging it up.

KTM 250sx with SSS forks would blow it out of the water.

It's very nice......just like the 2007 I have sitting in the shop but 6 years younger. One thing is for sure I'm very pleased that Yamaha keeps on making them.

And if you wanna go even faster you can wrap cut up cans of monster around your forks and rear shock reservoir.

I heard a rumour that Josh Coppins has been testing the 2014 Yamaha EFI twostroke in Europe recently. ???
Is it true?

Probably a rumor if anything else. Best rumor I've heard is from the son of a pro honda rider stating that Honda was testing two strokes once more.

I hear if you put all of those pieces of Monster Flair on, you can just swap out all of the vital fluids in the bike with Green Monster, or its low-carb substitute, Blue Monster.  :P

Kudos to Yamaha for continuing to produce and offer two strokes.
On the other hand, thanks Yamaha, for exploiting the loophole in
the rules that started the four stroke takeover  ><img src=" title="Angry" class="smiley">

The YZs get a few bones thrown their way every year, but they
are pretty good bones.  The stock suspension is the best production
stuff on the market.  The standard Excel rims, Fat bars, Ti pegs and
shock spring and the constant refinement make the 2013 a sweet
deal for the asking price, IMO.

By the way, I don't have a problem with the plastic.  I don't want my
YZ to look like a YZF.

I have an 2009 YZ 250, love it! Walked past all the 4T's over to the 2T in the showroom, couldn't bring myself to own another fourstroke after all these years( last one was a TT500G, still own it ). In saying that I ended up buying a 2010 YZF 250 as a donar?  bike for the frame for the this new project ( 350 rotary valve twostroke ) . Having ridden it I was a little shocked at how well it goes but gutless compared to the twostroke. Handles nice though? Trouble now is the daughter has taken it as her's and rides it as her bike of choice. She doesn't like my twostroke, it's bitten her a few times ( a few scrapes in the chamber now! ). I like my 250T . Good on Yamaha, may they keep on making twostrokes, perhaps with a few electronics ( EFI ) in the future.

Yamaha business model:

YZ - cheap to build and low product refinement R&D leads to good margin.

YZF- expensive to build and update but parts/service more than makes up for leaner margin.

These guys are not dumb.

They do the same with stand up jetski's.  Been the same for 10 years but they are the only company that makes em now. No r&d, all profit

I'd rather a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.
