Wife authorized a new YZ125...

So much for being an RM Guy.

I have my little (200lb) heart set on a '13 YZ125. I'm so excited! Now I'm just waiting for one to come into any of the five dealerships around North Georgia!  Hopefully I'll be ripping up Durhamtown and Monster Mountain soon!

seriously dude, if you're going to buy a new bike, why in the world would you buy a yamaha? please do yourself a favor and buy a ktm or a husky 125/150

worlds better, you're basically paying 6k for a 2006 yz125

if you want a yz then that's cool, but if it were my money it wouldn't be a yamaha

Biased  ;D

On a side note, KTM's 125sx and husky's cr125 are both awesome and a good buy. Yamaha currently leads in the suspension department but with an expensive price tag.

Don't do it. But not for the reason 595 gives. Get a 2012 with a blue rear fender like I just bought. The Yamahas are great and reliable bikes but it is true the KTM's are faster. Gotta go with the SSS suspention and cheaper parts. To each their own and I voted Yamaha. At least the still make them. IMHO the number one company that needs a boycott is honda (please notice the h is not in caps) for trying to decide on their own that 2 strokes need to go away. 595, the KTM is a better bike but the YZ still is a contender. We need to support all 2 stroke offerings but then only if they are worth the price. The price is buy it, maintain it, and live with it. And 377, if you like the 13 white fender get it. After all it needs to make you happy, not me. Blue or white fender, still the same big grin! Braaapppp!

You should get the 2013 KTM150sx, that thing would rip WAY more than the yz

"Wife authorized a new YZ125..."  Congrats on the new bike and congrats on getting the bosses permission.  I know many state is easier to ask for forgiveness then to ask for permission, but from my experience permission makes the wife at least feel she's in control.

I pushing for a new KTM 300 in the spring.

He obviously does want a YZ because he said he was buying one, and it's his money not yours  :D .

Congrats man, new bikes are great no matter what brand they are.

sorry if my post sounded harsh, it wasn't intended to be  :-*

i think its great that you are getting a new yamaha, that'll show them that there is still demand for that bike (and 2 strokes in general) which may bring there attention to it even more (see 13' yz intro)

i'll be really surprised if you can find one, the yamaha dealerships around my area haven't seen a new full size 2 stroke in a few years

In my area, at least the last time I stopped by, there was a 125 & a 250 on the floor.

I don't need the fastest bike, I need the bike I'm fastest on.  The SSS (re-sprung) is ready to race.  I'm so much more comfortable on the YZ.  That goes a long way.  Oh yeah, I get parts at dealer cost.

You should quit school, get a job, and buy one. It's your money. Best of luck!!

Thanks for the replies! Oh, and I'm deployed for months at a time. It makes the old girl feel special by exercising some control over my life, as she knows in reality she has very little.

Same reasons I went for the YZ. My 08 YZ250 is much faster than the 125 or even a 150SX. The 125 is exactly what I want. No dealer cost for me but I get a fair deal.
