i think we'd all agree with this, although 4 strokes have some good handling qualities, and other's not so much, that 2 strokes still handle better

As a mid-pack (at best) 40+ C rider, I really appreciate the front wheel steering of the 4 stroke, it just gives me way more confidence coming into corners, I really don't have the teen-age cojones required to come into a corner and blast my YZ250 wide open anymore.  I am definitely faster on a track on a 250 or 450f, but they are just so boring!!!  I race less than 10 times a year, and I do it for the fun and to hang out with the other 40+ guys, who are definitely characters (see ford382 for example!!!!)  The other reasonI stay with the 2 stroke is that I like to ride too much, and with my very limited finds, if a 4 stroke blew up on me, I would be out of riding for a year until I could afford to fix it.  I have ridden several newer 4 strokes, and they are great, but I would not want one for my only bike.  If I had the cash I would have a new 125, a 450f, and a 300 2st woods bike, and I would probably ride the 125 the most.

ya i completely understand, do you have a heavier flywheel on your bike? it kinda takes away the jumpiness/twitchiness of the bike, and makes it track better, kinda in between a 2 and 4 stroke feeling, my dad is a pretty lazy rider, doesn't use clutch, doesn't really like to use brakes that much, and he rides a yz250 with a heavy flywheel and he loves it

When I race nothing matters more than beating my long time buddy Pat. At our age and limited racing no way we are going to be at the front. We are both on 2 strokes and are truly the race within the race. Last year I was the  king of Ace and Unadilla but you would never notice it by our overalls. At another track he smoked me which is great since it is more fun than one faster all the time. Both on a track today he would smoke me. Point is Fun is king as is the 2 stroke (fun wise).  Simply just ride the bike which is most fun for you.

As the title accurately says, another MXA gem. Well written, to the point and accurate. What more can you ask for?

First off: Who wouldn't ride the 125 the most :P
I can appreciate that people would like the four stroke in an offcambered or flat and hard packed mx park. Traction is your best friend everywhere, but when theres little to be had the four stroke often rides faster simply because it gets more power to the ground. However, having said that, I honestly don't see the point (besides making four jokes look good) in a flat, hard packed MX park. Wheres the roost? Wheres the railing of the lines? wheres the WFO throttle 'control'? IE: Wheres the FUN!? I'm definitely SLOWER on a four stroke. Its been tried and true. I can't get them where I want to go, they fight me every turn of the crankshaft. They either want to crash to the ground or stand right up in a corner. The whole steering from the rear thing of a two stroke just suits me to be honest. A wide open, pin it to win it, crazy ass DESTROY ALL riding style is just how I've always ridden. I scream my way up to a corner, jam the brakes on to the point of endoing, sit down, lean her over, crack the throttle to slot the rear into the base of the berm and apply power all the way through the turn, crack the throttle again to stand her up and gun it. I tried and tried and tried so many times to do that sort of thing of my old fooper cos thats how I'd always ridden a bike, but to no avail. It just wouldn't work for me. Maybe I'm just retarded but I don't understand how people ride those turds fast.

But isnt that what motocross is all about? Come on, how many people make a living riding motocross/supercross? Squat. Hardly anyone does. At the end of the day, isn't motocross for the average bloke about having fun on a fooper and absolute, adrenaline soaked, full noise joy on a two stroke? I think it is.
