Brand New CR500
« on: May 30, 2012, 05:55:49 PM »
Just found this on claz.org
I'm tossing around the idea of buying a KX or CR 500 and turn it into a Supermoto bike. This one is out of my budget, but neat seeing a brand new one. The price is pretty high, I think?

It doesn't seem high to me although, like him, I probably couldn't bring myself to ride it.

price is about right for what it is, and that's a collector's item.

but, you know, those only made 48hp.   :<img src=" title="Roll Eyes" class="smiley">

How do you NOT ride a bike for all those years? What did it, sit in someones living room?

I can't wait until you finish school, land that "career" job and get out of the penny-pinching college mindset, my man.  Some guys have barns full of bikes.  He probably had 4 Hondas, was on the way home from work one afternoon in 2000, a dealer was selling the thing at way below invoice, so he snagged it.  Never rode it.  It happens all the time with "toys".

I buy shit I have no intention of using all the time.  I've got car parts for cars I do not own.

I want a CR500 like that, with 2006+ CRF front forks/brakes/wheel/triples.

I understand what your saying, but that's just not my mindset. I believe that if your going to buy something, at least use it a little hahaha. I know some people aren't like that, and I'm sure if I had money to spend on pointless stuff I would, but I just don't think like that...

If I had the 6k laying around, I would buy that thing, drain the fluids and put it in my livingroom.

I promise you, if you made 15,000 per month, you would not think twice about offering this guy 5500 and just keeping it.  It's a 500 two stroke.   You could  turn around and sell it in Japan for 12k USD the very next day, if you wanted.

I rode an overbored, extremely built one that belongs to a reputable owner (who runs TSM graphics) 3 weeks ago, and got told on here it was a 48hp clapper.  So, the stock 00 model must be like 35?

She's a beauty and a completely reasonable asking price if you're into 500s.

And I promise you that's only true with the right kind of wife/girlfriend, because I do and I wouldn't.
I would be in the permanent "dog house" if I came home with another dust collector.
