Hangtown 2012!
« on: May 20, 2012, 11:26:08 AM »
So I am surprised to start the Hangtown discussion thread. No comments? I'll start. Why was Chris Blose on a 450F? Why was the ONLY 2-stoke #344 Derek Currie, on a Honda CR250R who qualified 89th and didn't even make the consolidation race? No 125's.

I'd also like to point out that there were 91 entries in the 450 class. (I'll have to double check but I thought the AMA lowered the limit from 120 to 90.) Also, there were only 67 250F class entries. This could be a  thread topic on its own -  "The Decline of Pro Entries. Why?"

Congrats to Bubba. Really stepped up to the plate!

???  Blose was on this YZ250.  This picture is from the pits Saturday morning.  If the scoring sheet had that wrong it wouldn't be the first time.

Those entry numbers are pretty in-line with what has signed up the past several years.  Throughout the nationals there's usually between 60 to 80 riders in each class at each round trying to qualify.

The 450 class was a little boring out front but I thought that first moto of the 250s was some of the best racing I've ever witnessed.  I've never seen anyone do what Baggett pulled off.  Track was typical for Hangtown, pretty rutted and square edge.  I'm not at all crazy about their broadcast format.  Guess I should consider myself lucky to even have NBCSN even though it's standard def.

Baggett was pretty amazing. I won't take anything ways from that! But Dungy last year going from almost a lap down to the lead pack was just as amazing.

I know scoring can be and often is wrong but, I figured that in this day and age of "PROFESSIONALISM" they'd get the only other 2-stroke in the field right. Especially with all the hype surrounding it.

Or is this more proof of the conspiracy?

I'm pretty pumped for Stewart getting the 1-1 and Bagget getting his 1-1, The hell is up with this TV coverage? we should break off and make a 2 stroke only series  ;D

More proof of stupidity I would think.I've been looking forward to the outdoors all year-only to find I can't watch it.For the most part,if you live in Canada, you're shut out.Fuel and NBC sports aren't available to me and Speed isn't carrying it this year.
Every year since Speed took over Speedvision, they have deliberately cut out motorcycle programming one series at a time.
I only bought a sat receiver so I could get speedvision and watch motorcycle racing. With speed,I have to buy a useless package and pay an arm and a leg for nascar, accident shows, stupid drag racing game shows and other low budget, low cost drivel. That's it for me,Speed is going bye, bye.I'm sure one bike fan makes a difference in the sea of roundy-round 'tards.
Bring back Speedvision and "Two wheeled tuesday" !  :(
That's my "off on a tangent" rant of the day. What were we talking about again? :<img src=" title="Roll Eyes" class="smiley">

Oh yeah,I read on vital that Blose qualified 40th but they only took 37 or something like that, and he figured he wouldn't bother riding it again.I'm starting to get the feeling that some try to qualify a 2t just to get their name back out there and then toss it afterwards.

You can usually find them on youtube a day or two after the race. I dont have fuel either, I watched both motos live on the computer.

Im not a fan but Stewart made that 1-1 look easy. He didnt appear to be riding hard at all. Dungey looked ok on the pumkin after he got going, the second moto his bike didnt look like it was working as good. He still rode the wheels off and kept Stewart honest most of the race. They will get better.

Baggett is a beast. I bet that felt good after getting his ass kicked in sx all year. I was very surprised Tomac or Barcia didnt win, I would have bet money. Lites class has some awesome racing!

blose looked really good i was screamin for him  ;D but he just came up short. he was 40th but they took 36 so he had to ride the lcq or consilation race where the top 4 make the mains. he was like 6 or 7th in that race and was gaining but its only 3 laps and he had a shity start from what i saw in person. imo if he would of had a little better start he would have been in or 1-2 more laps he would have made it as he was gaining on the leaders avery second. he rode ggreat and im stoked for him!!!!!!

You can watch moto 1 of every race on allisports.com (they archive the first motos) and you can find the moto 2's on thepiratebay.org. Just type in ama motocross then click the "SE" button near the top right and the latest race is usually near the top. Unfortunately these races are no longer available on youtube due to copyright issues.
