Getting some oil leaking out of the exhaust. Any answers?
« on: February 17, 2012, 11:46:23 PM »
My bike, 93 Honda CR125, had been sitting for a few months while I was repairing the chain, bearings, and getting new tires on it. I turned off the gas and let the carb run out. I finally finished it today and it was bogging down pretty hard and it was spraying what looked like black oil out of the tail pipe. I stopped after a while but the bogging didn't. Does it need to run some more and get whatever gunk built up inside? Do I need to take the engine out and have it cleaned? Do I need a new pipe (the pipe is pretty old)?

Is the exhaust really smoky and smell funny to you? If so, your crank seals may have slipped out or worn out. If not, then check the crank seals anyways. It could also just be a rich mixture, I get some black oil splooge from the tip of my tail pipe every now and then.

It sat for a few months likely the carb is plugged up.Take it apart and clean/blow out all the passages with carb cleaner and compressed air, dump the fuel and put in fresh and a new spark plug-ride. 8)
The oil spooge out the back is pretty normal, the harder you twist the throttle, the less you'll have.

I'd rather a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

If a pair of 2" brass balls isn't working, I doubt that the 3" model will make much difference.

In many older topics on this forum,
I read that ''spooge'' should not occur when you have the propper and correct jetting,
no matter what mixture you use...

I heard that even with the correct jetting, if you use a lot of low end on the the two stroke instead of keeping it on the pipe, then it will spooge oil. I don't know how true that is, but I used my bike for trails a lot this summer and from what I can tell, it holds true.

Sweet! Thanks guys! Yea I had a feeling it had something to do with the carb but I didn't want to start taking stuff apart that didn't need fixing. And on the note of the exhaust. My exhaust honestly smells like a boat haha. It doesn't have that distinct 2 stroke smell and it has a different tone than the other bikes. I feel like it should be screaming at a higher pitch.

If you feel like you should be screaming more, check your power valves, sometimes those gunk up and suck away some power.
