It should say "the Japanese two-strokes are dying out...."  European two-strokes are thriving over here, not so much in motocross but off-road, I've never seen so many new KTM and TM 300s

Anyway, I was at an FMX event a few weeks ago with my dad at the Rose Garden (Portland's big-bad arena) and every single bike there was a 2T.  We loved it, but as the bikes were coming onto the show area, we heard a guy in seat close-by saying, "I hope these aren't all gonna be two-strokes!"  The tone of disgust was clear.  My dad, having only heard about the current 2T vs 4T mess from me, was unprepared for it.  Having eleven two-strokes in his possession and loving them dearly, he couldn't imagine where such a negative sentiment toward the 2T could've come from.  It's worse than the dissenters that were around when the 2T first hit the scene.  "The Honda four-stroke is better than the Kawasaki," they'd say, "it's got more strokes!"

2 strokes is one of the things that made fmx awesome to watch besides someone trying new tricks.

The answer to the question raised by this post is extremely simple. Twitch is getting free bikes from Kawasaki.

Some of the magazines are working extra hard to state that the two-stroke is dying. This is mainly because the largest part of their revenue comes from the manufacturers, plus they too get free machines from those same manufacturers. What would you say if the company that signed your paycheck asked you to promote your products? Yup, you tell folks it was great.

FMX is growing for reasons that at first seem to defy gravity... until you watch live video feeds from FMX events. The crowd is on their feet, yelling, screaming and jumping up and down. Why? Because it's short attention span theater at it's best. Every single jump could end in disaster and the only thing those guys do is risk their lives one after the other.

This is not a negative rank against FMX riders, those guys deserve big huge props for what they do. But so many of the fans wait to see big crashes....

The big problems will start to happen as the 4 bangers really start to take hold in that sport. Sure they will probably never have to rebuild their engines... they are no running at the same level as a racing motocross bike. But they carry a great deal of extra weight and have gyroscopic forces that can affect the tricks they are able to do....

Oh yeah... my buddy called a few dealers yesterday looking for a new YZ250.... most of them had sold all of them, but one dealer said to my friend, "What's going on?? Yours is the 7th call for a two-stroke YZ250 this morning!" Be prepared folks... things are changing for the guys that pay the bills for all these four-stroke drug pushers!!

I can't believe this, this guy is my friends idol, he practically worships him. Now when he finds out that he is riding a four stroke he is going to go back to TP, which is where i always was, because TP doesn't BS. I think, a 450 is NOT a freestyle bike, every freestyler knows that. Four strokes bog mid flip, they are heavy, the gyros are different, the throttle response is crap and they don't get a crowd pumped before a show, plus they are expensive. Before nearly every freestyle show, the riders rev their two strokes to get the crowd pumped, a 450 will just kind of get everybody going, what the hell is that thing doing here? Plus, the part of two strokes not being available, that is big time BS. In North America you can still sometimes pick up RM250's, Yamaha's are available, Ktm has a huge line up of 2 strokes, there is service honda too, which can please the peanut gallery. Across the pond, there are all those options, but more, TM, GasGas, Husqavarna, Maico, just to name a few. This my two stroke loving friends, is a very brilliantly played advertisement, and depromotion of the two stroke, both on the Japanese bike companies' side, and on the magazine's.
