DO NOT look at old bikes!!!
« on: July 07, 2011, 08:23:53 AM »
Here it is early in the AM and it has already started off bad. Business phones are down and the WORST part is, I happened to find one of my old bikes for sale (I didn't know it at the time, I spotted it while getting coffee),what a pile!. It was neglected and butcherd. I almost got sick. I know it's no longer mine but it used to be one of the top machines in my stable (nat'l calibre). The emotions I had was like looking at a serious accident but for some reason you just can't look away. I felt sad, hurt, plus it felt like my heart was ripped from my chest. The moral of the story is, if you see a model like you used to own, DO NOT look at it. It just may have been yours.

If you're afraid to break it, it's not worth having.

I have run across a few of my old bikes over the years and more often than not the bike was ratted out. I don't know why so many dirt bike owners neglect maintenance on their bikes.

Same with bicycles. When I see them re-posted a few months later they are junk. And usually for a lot more money than I sold them for LOL.

Not a bike story but I sold a mazada econo car I had used through college. Took great care of it, had it for probably 7 years or so and still looked new. Guy came to look at it with his 16 yr old daughter and bought it. I kept seeing it around town for the next couple of years -- probably spotted it about 3 times, each time with more body damage as the girl "learned" to drive. *sigh*
Yamaha CT3, RT3, MX125, SC500, Toy Prius, Diesel F250 (it all balances out)

Sometimes. On the other hand I recently saw my old KTM125SX for sale and it appeared to be immaculate. It did strike me as kind of funny that the guy had it listed as "never raced" :o :D Don't believe everything you read. :D
I'd rather a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

My story is a happy one, i have only stumbled upon one of my old bikes and when i seen my ol 01 250 SX i couldnt believe how good it was after 4yrs! I dont think the bloke i sold it to ever rode it once. And like ford, the guy in the shop told me "yeah mate, one owner, never raced"
