This whole linkage thing could be a marketing ploy as well,I mean how do you get customers off their PDS KTMs and back in the showrooms to buy new bikes? The PDS system had many advantages:cheaper to manufacture, lighter and simpler frame, straight intake tract to the carb,no linkage hanging down to name a few.

And by having every frame set up the same the KTM parts bin just got smaller saving them money? May be more complex but they only need to get one kind of setup made.

I wasn't a great fan of the PDS system.

You have to wonder what discussions are going on in the Japanese bike manufacturer boardrooms given the success of the KTM 2Ts.

Nope all offroad KTM's 2t or 4t will be no linkage.

Only SX will get the linkage and that is the way it should always be.

I haven't spent a lot on time on them and I don't race MX, but I may be one of the few who actually like the PDS.
Me to Coop, the pds works great for me but I guess KTM is giving most of it's customers what they want.

depends on what you're asking of it i suppose. The test would be to have a ride on a new model and see if you like the action better.

The only without linkage 2012 KTMs will be the XCW and EXC models. The XC's will have linkage.

PDS seemed to work everywhere else but the US.
One of the highlights of owning a KTM was not greasing
and replacing linkage bearings

I would think it would be a no brainer to put a larger tank, flywheel wt, wide ratio tranny, 18 inch rear wheel, softer springs on one of their existing 2t bikes (yz,rm,kx) with no other changes and try and market it to the off road crowd. easy money.
