4 stroke "Handicap"
« on: January 14, 2010, 11:22:36 PM »
hand-i-cap: a race or other contest in which certain disadvantages or advantages of weight, distance, time, etc., are placed upon competitors to equalize their chances of winning.

The totally unfair 4 stroke displacement advantage should be described as exactly what it is - a handicap. That's the word i'm using from now on, and with any luck it catches on and is a source of shame for the 4 stroke riders who use it LOL. What say people?

That is a great idea Chris. :D  From now on when anyone tells me they ride a 450f I will say, "oh, you ride in the hanicapped class".  Thanks for the heads up, I will definately start using the caught line..........

I've been calling it "cheating" for months now. :D

Is this Maico a 440 or only a 400?  Well in all the confusion, I forgot myself.
But considering this is a 1978 Magnum, the best-handling bike in the world, you have to ask yourself one question.
Do you feel lucky, punk?

WOW! there is some serious hostility over there miedoso!

That's the main reason I don't like reading anything on the other motocross boards and that I'm so vocal about being respectful, whether here or any where else.

What truly bugs me is when a new member signs up and everyone jumps on them and tells the to shut the f*** up. Yes, I know it's supposed to be in jest.

It's just that if a you invited a person over to your house for a party, how would you great them??? Most decent people would welcome them by saying hello or welcoming them in some way. And yes that is how I look at it... this place is like my house. All are welcome to talk about two stroke dirt bikes, just be respectful.

Truly, I wonder how many people on Vital (or any other message board) would behave the way they do if it was required to post using their real name?? I know there are some that would act the same way no matter what... to be honest those are the ones that I don't want in my house.

haha we HAVE to push this - we have been searching for a quick, simple and clear way to put accross the unfair advantage 4 strokes have and this covers it perfectly. I think it warrants a story on the main website with this picture!

I actually find it funny how uptight people get over something simple as a joke. Jeesh. I can't wait until everything is equal. I am gonna pull up so many posts that said we were whiners.  They will all be crying so bad. "Why'd I spend so much on a slower bike."  LOL

By the way, a 150SX will be tested in a magazine soon. I'm putting my 2 cents in to them with hopes, that they test it against a stock 250F....

thing is I think its funny and its kind of a joke but its also completely 100% true! plus I think the mags should test 250cc 2 stroke against 250 4 strokes in my opinion

Actually, I'd rather they not compare them. If they do, and the 250 2 stroke smacks down on the 250fart, there is 0 chance that changes can be made.  With the unknown, it makes it easier.  Seeing videos like the one from loretta lynns 250f vs 250t, was very similar. But stock for stock the 250t will kill the 250f.  Not even close.  It is 5 year old design still as well.

Plus, one more thing good about the 250t and 250fart being equal, it gives the 125/150 class a chance to re emerge. If we can say more and more about how close the 2 are, the better.

Promoting the 2T by hiding its superiority isn't going to work.  We wouldn't want to get equal-displacement, but have everybody think the 250F is faster anyway.  That would suck.

Sorry to disagree with you, but until last year, it was assumed by the top, that the 250s were very similar.  Thus, the talk about allowing them together.  When Jason Lawrence rode the stock YZ250 for Yamaha to compare them and killed his lap times on the Fully modded 250F. He told the people in charge that he planned on winning every race with one. That killed hope for the current year.  Fact
