2 vs 4 stroke!!
« on: April 14, 2011, 07:54:15 PM »
On youtube 4 strokes have more votes lets see how it goes on here. What sounds better 2 stroke or 4 stroke?? i vote 2 stroke also kinda ironic that when you hit shift and 4 you get the $ symbol and when you hit 2 you get the @ symbol meaning with a 2 stroke your @ the track insted of with a 4 stroke your not there cause your to broke from dumping to much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ into the bike!

2 strokes can sound like sh.it if they're not tuned right.

Also spode riders don't do them any justice.

85's definately don't do it for me, I'm more of a fan of 250's. A 125 can sound good if a rider knows how to ride one.

Four strokes sound good too though. Can't go wrong with a good thumper sound.

For dirt bikes? Two stroke by a mile. I love that ring ding ding. And four strokes are actually louder than two stroke. Their echo goes way farther. The smoker may be loud close up, but that wont get tracks shut down since you cant hear it 1/4 mile away. A fourstroke however will get a track shut down when your neighbors a mile away call the red and blue.

I have to admit, some two-stroke sounds I don't necessarily like.  Some bikes sound like there's shredded aluminum foil in the exhaust somewhere, it's kind of annoying.  But if you have a real crisp, radical cackle that sounds like a tiny top-fuel dragster, that can be a wonderful sound (although that kind of sharpness often requires you remove the silencer, which is going to be a bad idea 90% of the time).  And then you get the bigger two-strokes, like 400+ cc which roar like a Grizzly Bear when you pour on the gas.  You can just feel the torque through the air.  Four-strokes can sound cool some of the time, but honestly a four-stroke engine needs a higher number of cylinders to really get good sound.

Is this Maico a 440 or only a 400?  Well in all the confusion, I forgot myself.
But considering this is a 1978 Magnum, the best-handling bike in the world, you have to ask yourself one question.
Do you feel lucky, punk?

Without a doubt the 2-stroke wins for me! I'm not really crazy about the sound of 85cc or 105cc 2-smokers but when compared to 4-jokes of the same size the 2-strokes still sound better! For any non believers out there go take a spin on any well tuned 500cc 2-stroke & that should scare ya straight for sure!!! :o

Oh yeah, definately not refering to myself....lol, i dont think any one would agree if i said 2nd gear half throttle..... :D

Last time i heard a 250 ridden properly would of been when i saw Chad Reed, Andrew McFarlane and Michael Byrne at the Nats here in Perth in the late 90's.........
