MX Clothing
« on: April 07, 2011, 09:20:16 PM »
Have been thinking lately after seeing some fashon crimes out riding , what do TSM members wear.
i.e do you buy 1 particular brand or do you buy whats cheap.
Are you covered head to toe in Fox for example.
What got me thinking is seeing old overweight guys wearing pink/orange/red gear which may look good on a teenager but not on an old guy.
Worst offenders are KTM riders over 50 wearing KTM issue DHL/Acerbis race gear. :-[ Midlife crises ?

So what do you wear ?

Myself:
Shark MXR Helmet
Scott Goggles
EVS Vest
Fox Jersey  Black/White
661 Elbow guards
EVS Gloves
M2R Pants Black/White
661 Knee guards
TCX Boots
If you don't fall off you are not going hard enough

Fly Kevlar helmet
Answer Syncron black/white jersey, pants, and gloves
EVS "pressure suit"
Scott goggles
Alpinestar boots

I need to get some knee guards for this season. The Answer gear is a little loud, but my wife got it for me for Christmas since I was still wearing a jersey and pants from the 90's  :) .

i have seen these fashion crimes as well...being a girl i notice these things. but i will say in the old mens defense, they are wearing these because im sure back in the 80's and 90's when they werent old men that was the style.  and ive noticed there is a big comeback in the 80's throwbacks.  then again, maybe they've had these jerseys since the 80's

Andrew what size helmet do you wear?  maybe i can find you one around here and send it your way.  i dont care what anyones jerseys look like...but im a stickler for safety gear. Drives me insane to hear when a rider gets hurt and it coulda been prevented by some safety gear.  Charles' ribs (chest protector..the first time)  Harleys knee (you have braces for a reason).  Andrew dont you dare touch that bike without a helmet on or i will personally make a trip to washington to glue one on your head!

As for what i wear, i dont do any track riding its all woods. so anything i dont mind getting a hole in.  usually i wear a hoodie and already ripped up jeans...oh the best part, my boots that i have ducttaped completly from toe to knee.

HJC helmet(what can I say?HJC/KBC fit me the best)
Sinisalo jersey/pants
Sinisalo gloves-an old pair I've stitched and goobered many times.I have 3 new pairs but they are all the sort of tight skinny lightweight things-not like my old trusty thicker padded ones.
Thor chest protector
661 knee/elbow guards
Scott goggles. Also Smith and Progrip but prefer the Scotts
Alpinestar Tech 6 boots
No Fear Kidney belt
661 neck roll-whereabouts unknown.I think I left it in the bed of the truck last year after packing up and it blew off on the way home   ::)

I need to replace the sinisalo as my Berg was continually burning holes in them  >:(  The emt's cut off my old trusty MSR S6's so I need some new stuff-it's just all so butt F ugly.I've been looking at Moose gear as it seems to be fairly neutral colors with no queer designs and such all over it.

I like to blend in.. less people notice my sucky riding ;)

Gray/White/Black AXO jersey and pants.
Black A-star Tech 5's?
Black+clear Fox chest protector.
Shoei/Troy-Lee VFX-R helmet.
Black/grey old school Roll-offs.
Fox gloves.
Fox kidney belt.
Low end knee braces (hinged guards) - dont remember the brand.
Two brands of elbow pads - forget that brand too.

Everything is pretty old, beat, scarred, and permanently dirty,.. with the exception of the helmet and the knee guards.
