Kx owners need suggestions

As you all know by now I have a 06 kx250 and i was wondering if it would be better to go up one tooth on the front sprocket or stay with the 13t and go up a tooth on the rear? Oh and i ride motocross and they are all long if that helps

What you describe accomplishes two different things. One up on the front increases top end while one up on the rear increases low end. So you have decide which way you want to go with the power.  I generally like to change the front if I can because you don't usually have to change the chain and its cheaper.

The MXA test I read on the 06 KX said they went 1 tooth extra on the rear to gear it down.

Going up one tooth on the front would be roughly equivalent to going down 3.5 teeth on the rear.

No its the equivelant to adding 2 on the rear,
Mine's geared at 14/50, 3:57
that's 1 up front,  2 down rear
I prefer this gearing to the 1 extra tooth in the rear, it funny to gear up for tight woods, but I can use first gear now with this setup and it absolutely pulls like a Clydsedale with a rocket up it's ass out in the open.

Every bike has different ratios so you still need to enter your ratios.

Faster changes its easier to gear down the front sprocket, you get more bang for the buck and less chain hassle.  However, for any particular speed, it also changes the rotation of drive shaft, so can put more stress on that bearing by going down teeth on the front sprocket, going up teeth would have less stress.

But don't listen to me, I have 3 Maicos with approx. 12 / 60 ratio setups.

I was surprised when MXA opted to gear it down since it has a lot of bottom to it already.  Getting back into MX I opted to go up a tooth in the front from a 13 to a 14 to take the bite out of her.

I still race/ride MX with the 14/51 combo and it works well for me, but I am thinking I might have done this prematurely since I was still getting used to riding again and not sure I fully realized the difference.
