Just a taster of my Maico 700 i'm building to race in the Thundersport GB streetfighter c race series in the UK which is a tarmac only race class mainly filled with big bore 4-stroke supermotos.
There is a 70bhp limit at the back wheel, and a 700cc max capacity for single cylinder machines, so when the power has been tamed a bit to meet the regulations it should be a bit of a laugh.

That's a 2010 Maico International bike correct?  It's got the 2010 graphics and seat.

Its not one of Maico internationals, but has been built up with some parts from them including the fuel tank/engine as well, so its essentially a 2010 spec model.
I've fitted adapted different fork yokes which are wider to suit the marchesini wheels, radial forks, brembo radial monoblock front caliper, keihin pwk38 carb, and done a lot of other work to it to get it ready for the tarmac only series i race in here in the UK.
Just got to play around on the dyno now in the next few weeks to get it down to the 70bhp limit for the race class.

Wow, awesome bike Melco, these 700cc Maico's are so elusive it is almost unbelivable we are seeing pictures of one - and a very nice on at that.
Given how hard they are to find, I am keen to buy a slightly older Maico and slot a Zabel engine in as they appear to be a bit more developed anyway.

A few questions on yours.

If you say "detuned" to 70RWHP, how much grunt did it have initially?

Why have you opted for such a small carby on a 700cc? (I suspect this is for lower down grunt given the HP restriction)

Let's just say you did decide to go wild and there was no HP restriction, how much grunt do you think you could get out of it?

Are you able to elaborate on any other mods?

 :) NICE SM bike Melcox!!! I kind of figured that it was originally a German Maico with some parts from Maico Int. when I seen the swingarm. However the bike looks awesome to say the least!!! I'm having a hard time waiting for the American Distributor to get some Maicos here in the U.S. so I can @ least price a 500mmx-e model.Nonetheless thanks for the pic of your sweet ride! It's truly an amazing looking bike!
