1984 KTM 495 $1500
« on: February 24, 2011, 03:45:25 PM »
Need space in my garage to work, so basically looking at clearing out non-Maicos.

This bike is setup for trail riding and is the most aggressive bike I have.  Forget a Honda CR500 or KX500, this bike can be setup to really fly if you want.  Right now, its setup for trail riding.  Has a lot of power off the bottom end and its geared for the trails.  It could use a new clutch if you plan to go high speed, but if you're just trail riding its fine.

Right now it has the low compression head (11:1 Ratio), the heaviest flywheel weight you can get for the motoplat.  I also have the lighter flywheel weight but they're both external, if you wanted to hot rod this motor you'd need to get an internal rotar setup.

I do have a high compression (14:1 ratio) head which requires 2 active spark plugs you can put on if you plan to hot rod the thing.

Comes with second motor, exactly the same engine (5 speed, 1st gear is low but 2-5 is same as MX version).  Second motor has new crank bearings and brand new crank.

Engine was rebuilt, all new bearings, new top end, new crank as well.  Starts first kick when cold even.  Never had problem with the bike.  If I can arrange my garage better may keep it if doesn't sell in a reasonable time.  Has new undented pipe from Austraila (LBR).

Second engine is not together but is in great shape.   Needs replacement of the other bearings (drive and clutch) before putting back together.  Have second swingarm as well.

$1500 for ppl on this site.  Note the brand new 495 Crank itself is worth $700.
