Are you missing the Smileys?? Read this!
« on: January 06, 2010, 05:40:36 PM »
A few folks have mentioned that the smileys don't show up. This is bad. :-[ :-[

Of course this is one of those things that the Admin can see, but others do not.... so after looking into it a little bit I have a suggestion.

Please clear your browser cache. In 99 out of 100 cases this should solve your problem.

I'm sure the question will come up "well just how do I clear the cache?" I'm glad you asked.

On Firefox version 3.5.7 on a Mac this is how you do it. Go to the top menu under Firefox (to the left of File) scroll to Preferences, a little box opens up..  Click on the "Advanced button on the top right of the box, then click on the "Network" tab. On the third line down you'll see a heading named "Offline Storage" to the right of this is a clear now button, please press it. That should do it.

But what if I have a different browser? This is simple! Go to your favorite search engine (mine happens to be Google) and type into the search box " How do you clear the cache in ______ Browser?" (please fill in the blank with the browser yu are using. This should lead you to an article or two about how to clear it on your particular computer.

Please let me know if clearing the cache works for you... :) or not.  :(

You have no idea how much my computer hates me.  It's not worked.

Is this Maico a 440 or only a 400?  Well in all the confusion, I forgot myself.
But considering this is a 1978 Magnum, the best-handling bike in the world, you have to ask yourself one question.

My cache is at 0 MB. :) And firefox doesn't save any history, so it don't clutter my computer up. ;)

John,
No, I don't see the faces, all I see is the word. That's how I can tell if someone put a smiley, or sad face. Kind of weird it don't work. Do you see the actual face or just the word?

If I do that option on this windows hog, it will delete all my saved password. I'm afraid I don't remember half of them. I'll be screwed :-[

What is weird is that I could at one time, see smileys. Then, it just quit. I thought I hit a preference button or something.

Then I helped my brother get signed on to TSM. I couldn't see them on his computer either.

Things that make you go hhhuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Maybe we should call Jesse Ventura :-\ ;) ;D

I think the crazy thing is, that no one can see them except the admin. Must be something else. Also, it was weird. What I had posted yesterday, got switched to "don'tlike" and I didn't write that.  Not sure what is going on.

Too easy.It would appear to be a data transfer issue-ie the smiley is too slow.It would appear John is using 4t smilies.Pretty shameful if you ask me :)

When I just typed the smiley in,it came up with a colon and right bracket.Once I post it,it will say "smiley"
I'd rather a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

Hmm... I'm getting little "broken image" icons.  Maybe that's one of the eccentricities of Google Chrome?

Well, I keep hearing people say they're seeing some text or something instead of smileys, which isn't the case for me.  Perhaps I misinterpreted.

Hey Miedosracing... that was one of the filters I added to the site, in order to keep folks from using bad language... You used the word h*ate just take out the *.... Maybe it's time to remove them??

I'll look into the reason that the smileys don't work.... sorry about that!

If I make too many changes at one time... we'll never get it figured out, in that light I made a small change.

Does it work now?
