This week Racer Head column by DC starts with a comment that there is an announcement coming soon with regards to the Nationals the will make a lot of people very happy.

You never know, it might relate to equivalency.

DC Is Not in charge of AMA SX or MX. Feld rule the roost over SX (even though 'promoters' have no place in the rule making of the sport) and DCs Racer Promotions does what they do - promote the series - not create the class rules. They certainly have the power to adjust safety rules etc (re flag changes etc.), But he / they certainly would not impose themselves over the AMA, as I think Feld does. DC Is a lifetime motorcyclist, whose hard work , circumstances and, undoubtedly, a bit of luck, has led to him being very successful in business. If you think he/ Racer Promotions are arseholes - give thought to what the Daytona owners have done with their 'ownership' of the sport. Thankfully, DC's mob got the contract to run the nationals from DMG - DMG themselves, or Lluongo, or some other company, running it would/could be much , much worse.  I think DC's mob actually conduct themselves fairly, and defer/refer to the Ruling body - AMA, when it comes to the rules structure. I think the AMA, however, defer to the manufacturers. I can see why he's getting fairly pissed off by the flack he gets. I would not blame him for just saying 'bugger the lot of you 2t blokes', what with the attacks / abuse he gets.

I think he believes in equivalency - most people seemed to miss the irony / sarcasm he used in that video he posted over a year ago. His 250 2t being 'unfair' against a 250 4t was delivered as a sarcastic jab at the manufacturers that were vetoing it. He was belittling those that stood against it. But so many drongos didn't get it, and use it as their battleflag. Equivalency in other areas Has Not led to 4t destruction, and has made those who stand against it in the AMA Pro series And GP MX look like the main manufacturer puppets that they are. Equivalency will result in better racing, and, when introduced at all levels, will deliver the impetus to many manufactures to re-invest in 2t technology. Just like the modern 4t revolution, when Yamaha really made an effort and made a real racing 4t, it will take a few years (it seems most forget that it took quite a few years for the change over to 4t domination, in both sales and racing results) to bring 2ts back to being the bikes of choice for, what I reckon, will be the majority of riders..

Lets' see what this coming announcement is.......

As good as it would be, I dont think we will see displacement parity anytime soon. I hope I am wrong, but from what DC has said on many different media outlets, there is not much chance of this happening. I can almost guarantee that the announcement will be regarding the 125cc junior class at the nationals. This will be a major step towards seeing two strokes again at the nationals, and developing junior talent. The best racing always seems to occur with the smaller displacement machines, and the 125 epitomises motocross racing. Can't wait !!!

Yes, you're probably closer to the mark with that.

I think that in itself will be a good step to parity - the first step back to sanity in having a 125 class, that should lead to a 250 class, then a 450 /500/ Open class.

It might also stop us from being side tracked into the idea of only a small concession of 150s and 300s. As I've said from the very start of the petition, as much as I admired peoples passion for the 150 / 300 proposal, I don't think it's a good thing. We've got parity in so many associations/ countries, and to not get it, by substituting parity with still very unfair rules in AMA Pro, then almost certainly GPs, would, possibly be the cause of that parity, that has been gained, being lost. Size for size is the only thing I can support.

My hat is of to you burn, as the time and effort you've put forth is amazing.  Charlie I'd like to throw out an "ataboy" as well for posting the count on the home page...  I log on every day just to want the counter continue to roll...

The tide is changing..  many have seen the errors of there ways.  An example..  Local rider, picked up a junk yami 250F..  He's rebuilding it to use as a practice bike.  Something to beat on and plus when he jumps on his KTM 250SX its lighter, faster, and much more flickable.  He feels as though with the additional weight, and lack of overall power, the yami will help with his riding / racing.  Maybe we found a good use for the thumpers...  practrice bikes...  We'll find out this spring when the flag drops.
