The main course with the chicanes and whatnot isn't ready yet so just a little roundy round. There is a KX500 though :)

I'd rather a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

Much faster in person. You can actually go much faster than on dirt with proper ice tires. Most of the guys use Fourniers out of Quebec.$1000 is a bit steep for my blood though

http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CBIQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.marcelfournier.ca%2Findex-en.php&rct=j&q=Fournier%20ice%20tires&ei=sho-TcaCOcnGgAeA-p3qCA&usg=AFQjCNHxfsypHicoIGOEyW6yMFCTxgS_dQ&sig2=sPUMiUiakX0NpJfx3lm15A&cad=rja

The guys tried to do their own and while they worked well, studding an ice tire and sharpening them to the proper angle depending on location is a bit of a black art, and, according to the guys that use them, and from watching them, the difference is night and day.

Click on videos on that site for a good helmet cam vid.

A very fast friend of mine was, after much arm twisting, coerced into trying ice racing. The start went fairly well but there was a first turn pileup and someone somehow got a leg sucked into my friend's back tire. There was meat flying everywhere, my friend's breakfast liberated itself inside his full face helmet and that was that - no mre ice racing! :o :o

Yuck :o That's why the guys here require proper guards-not that it still can't happen. The studs are literally razor sharp as you know.I remember seeing it on TV years ago and the commentator was describing the set up and talking about the different stud angles and such.He then put his bare hand on the tire at the end of his spiel and pulled it away with blood gushing out.I can't imagine having one spinning on you :o

Anyway, here's some ice-racing-related pornography for you guys.
Fifth Gear - Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 on Ice by Tiff Needell

Is this Maico a 440 or only a 400?  Well in all the confusion, I forgot myself.
But considering this is a 1978 Magnum, the best-handling bike in the world, you have to ask yourself one question.
Do you feel lucky, punk?

Pay no mind to the annoying creature behind the wheel.  There's a Gallardo going sideways in the snow, which according to the Fictional University of Calculations (FUC) is physically arousing to 80% of lesser primates tested in a recent clinical study.
