Awww man, I was thinking other dirty magazines. Hahaha, just kidding. Those look to be in better condition than my brand new Dirt bike magazines, and my crotch rocket magazines as well.

Talking about collecting mags. :o

In each of this old OPTI oil boxes are 2 sets of 25 issus German Mags " DAS MOTORRAD"

beginning with the early 60s up to about 2007 ( I believe.)

I had already a good collection, when I got a call from an older German Gentleman who tought he would nt make it to the next year, had no family and wantet me to take over his collection.
When I came to his place,I was glad that I took the VAN (empty) and not my wifes Toyota Prius.
And a nice printed list with almost all teststories and in what year and # issue to find.
I think I figured one day that it is a total of 13000 mags.
Somebody speaks GERMAN????
No they are not for sale, but interesting to reed.Funny the old test storys from the 60s. :D :D :D

They really don't make bike magazines like they used to.  Could you imagine one of the big mags taking a shot of a Honda 4T sitting in a pig-pen, complete with pigs, and the word "Oink" coming out of the exhaust pipe?  Even further, could you imagine that article being stuffed full of pig puns and innuendos?  Well, Dirt Bike did it back in the original Super Hunky days.  Honda was PISSED, and stopped selling ads in the magazine.  Then they made a decent bike (Elsinore) and got a foam-mouth-raving positive test in Dirt Bike and the ads suddenly came back.  Sort of shows how these big factories like to play.

Is this Maico a 440 or only a 400?  Well in all the confusion, I forgot myself.
But considering this is a 1978 Magnum, the best-handling bike in the world, you have to ask yourself one question.
Do you feel lucky, punk?

You've hit the nail on the proverbial head!!

What's missing today is HUMOR!! Everyone takes themselves so seriously and finds it hard to laugh at themselves.... I miss that.....

.... by the way I loved that Dirt Bike issue!!

I wish I could've seen it - I only got to read about it in Monkey Butt.

Srsly, if you want a great bike-related read, everyone go out and buy it.  This book is so good it ruined my math grade because I spent all of study hall just reading it, instead of getting work done.  Also, if you're looking for a good reason to harbor a disdain for the government, this book is a good place to start.  We all talk big about the dastardly deeds of the AMA, but the BLM make them look like kids playing with ants.

Great book! My wife bought it for me 9-10 years ago or so and I have read it more tmes than I recall. I am honestly re-reading it right now.  :D . I have always been a fan of his and actually liked DirtBike back when he was editor. I had all the issues from the 80's through early 90's, but when I moved to Alabama in '93 my brother sold them at a yard sale. I miss those magazines, LOL.
