I think people don't give Nascar enough credit for difficulty.  Although the idea of going left all day sounds simple, it's really quite an art, and losing half a mile per hour into a turn could cost you five places.

NASCAR Ridealong at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Now, if NASCAR really wanted to attract some attention, they'd put Pastrana in a Plymouth Superbird and see how things go.  I've never been interested enough to actually watch a NASCAR race, but if they did that, you can guarantee I'd watch every race he's in!

Pastrana + NASCAR .... a match made in heaven!!

JETz you're right there is some talent to driving those cars, but it's not something that many people know about, finesse. Every single tiny mistake costs time in NASCAR (or karting or MX, etc, etc)

It's the little stuff that really makes a difference and costs time. Lap times are king, no matter what anyone says, that's what everyone concentrates on in professional racing... that's how you go fast and win races.

Should Pastrana be allowed to race NASCAR he will bring a renewed interest into the sport. I could see him giving a blow-by-blow monologue while in the heat of the racing... of course his wild antics would bring in lots of younger fans...

Travis has amazing powers of concentration, so he should be very good at NASCAR racing. Although he will need to learn an entirely new way of racing. But the guy has been able to do that multiple times in many different areas...

He could become the biggest name in NASCAR should he put all the needed pieces in place.

Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do.  8)

Yep, I completely agree. I have never watched a Nascar race in my life, but I would definitely make time to watch any race Travis was entered into. Especially if he brang his usual antics along for the ride !!

It'd be funny if Travis won a race by three miles, and then the officials examined his car and discovered he was running with 1200hp due to twin turbochargers, dual overhead cams and fuel injection.  Just a blatantly illegal motor that gets him disqualified from the race.  And then when they ask him what he was thinking, he'd just say, "When I come to race, I come to win!"

It may take skill, be difficult, etc...but man I HATE Nascar. I have never been able to watch a race or get into it.

Modern Nascar is extremely boring to watch, I agree.  However, if you ever have the chance to watch a race from 1970 or so, do it.  It was very interesting to watch back then, even the pit stops were entertaining to behold, as the crew splashed gasoline thither and yon from the giant gas cans with a 3" hose for a spout.  The cars back then had a lot less grip, so an ordinary lap would occasionally involve some significant degree of oversteer.  Passing was far more common as well, because the cars would have vastly different capabilities depending on the year.  One year Ford would introduce a new body and dominate, then the next year Chrysler would have NASA develop a new nosecone for the Charger and add 20mph to their top speed, etc.  Aside from the fact that it's still a difficult sport, everything else that made it interesting to watch has been gotten rid of in the name of either "close racing" (aka, no passing) or safety.

Vivid Entertainment recently announced it has been in talks with the X-Games champion Travis Pastrana about a possible movie.  The movie is not a biography or a story of freestyle motocross but instead an adult feature film with Travis as the lead.  "Travis has read the script and his reaction was very positive" said Steven Hirsch, Vivid Entertainment Founder & Co-Chairman.

Several possible co-stars have also been mentioned including Katie Morgan, Tracie Lords, Michelle Maylene and Rachel Roxxx.  It is unclear at this time how the film would be categorized (i.e. "softcore" or "hardcore") however the name which was leaked seemed quite obvious.  Triple X Games.

http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b211236_Travis_Pastrana_Death_Eater.html

In a special press conference today, Lord Voldemort confirmed reports that Travis Pastrana has been offered a Death Eater position.  "Travis has reviewed the contract and he has taken an interest in death eating.  I am sure the lifestyle of a death eater will be particularly attractive to him.", stated Lord Voldemort.

Several other death eaters have also confirmed that Travis has already started training.  Rumors are also abound that Travis may have become the love interest of Bellatrix Lestrange.  "He loves me or he dies ha ha ha" remarked Bellatrix on the grounds on Hogwarts while being accompanied by new head master Severus Snape.

I guess this latest career change will require Travis to change his last name as well, from Pastrana to Pastrami. :-X
