It seems that a bunch of you guys are not old enough to remember when the term "Made in Japan" meant what you had in your hands was crap!! 30, 40 or 50 years ago, very little that came out of Japan could be considered high quality.

The chinese will get their act together one day but i would give them more time before i look.

Thats what i said.
I remember working on Hyundai cars when they came out in the 80's. I was working for the local Mitsubishi dealer which was what the Hyundai's were a copy of. Total crap. Now look at them.
Most of the japenese factorys have plants in china. The Suzuki little outboards we sell are made there. Good quality.
Hyosung motor cycles are well regarded here but so far are the only Chinese/Korean bikes to have made a name for themselvs through quality.
If you don't fall off you are not going hard enough

I wasn't even born back then :D.

Anyways, if they make something that is of really good quality and has a good price, I would definitely buy it. Hell, it will be a dark day for Japan when China starts producing quality products for low prices because I could see how most of their current costumers would choose the cheaper brands.

Interesting fact: did you know that the engines of the BMW S1000RR (quite new and amazingly successful sport bike model) and the G450X enduro are being made by Kymco (a.k.a. Kwang Yang Motor Co :) ) based in Taiwan. Even Taiwan finally made something good :D. Come on China...

I ahd a chinese bike for 2 year's, never had any major problems with it. it was heavy and not very fast. but very reliable, i sold it to my mates missus and it's still going strong, the difference is i got it fully optioned up, and tightened/ locktighted all loose or important bolts, ffs if a jap bike has loose bolts they are still gonna rattle out. china's products are getting better every day, in a couple of years time they are going to be super competitive but as john said at a cheaper price but not under 1000 bux

China is very strange in that it is a communist one party nation that allows a certain degree of capitalism. Labor costs are carefully controlled, the value of the chinese currency is kept artificially low and the government tightly regulates all aspects of production. The artificially low prices of chinese products is undermining the manufacturing sectors of competing nations and disrupting global commodity demand patterns.

What I am saying is that chinese products are so cheap to buy that they are contributing to a mentality of waste and pollution and it is our children who will pay the price.

The party leaders are not ignorant and the new found wealth of China will allow them to purchase more and more technology at an ever increasing rate. We are already experiencing the application of this knowledge in rapidly improving chinese products.

China should have it's day in the sun but there will be a price to pay for those inexpensive chinese motorcycles and ATVs.

I've heard about these for years but never actually seen one-I think they call them " Chaico's" over here :D ;)
I'd rather a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.
