I think I may have found a new project. :)
« on: October 06, 2010, 06:25:20 PM »
I just went to pick up a parts bike.
We get it home, my buddy rides it.  Then with my broken rib, I take a short test ride.
Wow. :)
I'm considering hanging on to it and doing another build, set it up for some scrambles.
What do you guys think?

2000 YZ 250, needs a little TLC but nothing a rebuild won't take care of.

Yeah I would never consider that a parts bike.  :)

That is not a parts bike!! That is a motorcycle that needs a little TLC.

I bet with a little bit of work you could sell it for a decent price and get another two-stroke out into circulation. Maybe even make a few dollars for your troubles.

I vote to fix it!

Nice Bike!!  It looks almost identical to my '98.  I am hoping to upgrade to an '06 or new sometime soon though.....

I have decided to keep it, but I have to get rid of the 125.. I think I will be swapping some parts over to the 250 and selling the rest.

So I have a fresh rebuilt complete motor, with Athena top end if anyone is looking. :)

And yes I'm sure i'll take tons of pics, I picked up a new Sony DSLR lastnight. Gotta test it out. :)

I would definatly hold onto that bike, as it looks reletively clean(hell, even the plastic aren't the typical YZ "white").  The bike would be a great build up project, new bearings, seals, topend(300cc kit anyone?), chain & sprockets, hoops, and some fresh graphics..that thing will outlast 2 generations of new 450 4 storkes!!! ;)
I have had it with 4 stroke turds

Ok well I took my 125 and swapped some parts to the 250. :)
Fuel tank, plastics, etc. It looks like the 125 just a little more between the frame rails. :)
It was a tough choice to make but I am definately glad I decided to keep it.
It had a fresh top end when I picked it up (183 PSI), just have to do some jetting, chain and sprockets, brake pads and a clutch cable.
Should be ready about the same time my ribs can handle it.
