I guess that means Alessi won't be on a ktm for long.  I wonder if james stewart might go orange?  A lot of free agents and fast rookies.

Yeah, definitely going to be very interesting "silly season". I expect there will be some very big, and surprising changes. Have to wait and see. Hopefully someone within KTM can push for a 150 support class at the AMA national series. Now that would be a forward step for the motocross circuit. A Grid full of KTM 150's with a bunch of young guns riding them would be AWESOME !!!!

Alessi is still under contract, so I'm asssuming he'll stay, but daddy Alessi has to go.  That would be the best thing for Mike.  He needs to get away from dad and let an icon like Roger manage him.  Mike has always known for out working everyone, so I'm hoping he steps up to the challenge, and daddy goes and sits in the stands, and watches with the rest of us.

DeCoster will do for KTM what he did for Honda and Suzuki - WIN championships. He knows what needs to be done and how to get it done.

Don't expect to see any two-strokes in the mix with DeCoster at the helm... at least not anytime in the near future.

Life is short.

I agree with John on both counts. I think he will do good things for KTM, but I suspect they will continue 4T route, for now anyway.

As much as I respect DeCoster's achievements, he was one of the original proponents and authors of the 4 stroke displacement handicap that has been the bane of our existence for over a decade now.  Nothing good for the 2 stroke at KTM will come from this.  I wouldn't be surprised to see them drop the SX's in the next few years and only sell 2 strokes in the XC line.

Does anyone know how long Decosters contract is with KTM?I do think he will help Alessi win a SX or MX Championship but I just hope he does'nt convince Ktm to do away with their 2-stroke line of bikes!

I don't see KTM dropping the smoker, as they a lot of off-road riders are on KTM smokers.  Just go to a off-road race / enduro, you'll see a sea of orange smokers.  At my local KTM dealer, they sell the 2-stroke bikes quicker than the 4-pokes.  In many locations, they sell out of the smokers, and are working the phones locating unsold smokers at other dealerships.

Right, there is no way they will drop the 2 stroke XC line-up, but I read somewhere that they import less than 2000 SX's into the US a year.  They are such great bikes, and KTM sells every one of them, but with DeCoster pulling the strings, I can see them making a business decision to axe them....

What's funny, that even with the XC line-up, many guys still prefer the SX version, and convert it for off-road.  Different flavors for different folks...
