This is also my favorite video. Never get enough of it, so thanks for posting it for us to enjoy. That is also my favorite bike of all time-might be a little biased though as we own a 2006 RM250. We also have a 2010 RM-Z250, and my 16 year old son (at 180 lbs) leaves the 2010 at home and only rides the 2006! He comes in from a motto on the 2T and almost always says with a smile:  "I just love that bike!". I think we're gonna sell the brand new four smoke and get another "old" 2smoker. What an economics lesson for dumb-ole-dad! 2006 RM250 brand new was 3995.00. 2010 RM-Z250 brand new was 7200.00. And you guys know the economics of maintenance! Oh well, at least I can rest assured that he figured it out on his own and wasn't just bowing down to my rants and raves.

It's a three way tie going into day three. And the two stroke is one of them! Gosh, I've been wanting to see something like this. I don't even know this rider, Soubeyas (a frenchman Right?), But I'm sooo hoping he pulls it off!!!

In my 'discussions' with various blokes on other sites about 2t vs 4t, where I just support equivalency, and say that 4ts no longer need the extra capacity to compete (which I do believe - they're no longer foo foo bikes), the 4t fanatics just avoid the issue, by going around and around.

I regularly say, we need to go back to 125, 250 and Open / 500 class formats. But I always throw in a life line for Honda, and say, make it 150, 250, 450 or Open, as Honda have a modern 150 4t, that they can easily put it in a CR125 like chassis. And being the all conquering 4t that it is, it should have no problems.

The silence is usually deafening. :D

[It would probably be a fun little bike to cane around on - and they'd sell a squillion of them]
This is great! So logical!

We do know about this machine and trust me, it is a turd. And you are right. It is stupid to compare it to a 125, as we should be comparing it to a 150. I would like Motocross Action magazine to do a 150cc shoutout, that would be much smarter!

Is a 2010 rm-z250 current? We also have a 2006 and 2007 rm125 and a 2006 rm250. And I am here to tell you that our 2006 rm250 flat out destroys our 2010 rmz.

Now here I am on this site telling everyone that I caved and bought the boy the new rmz he's been beggin for. Why? Because this 15 year old kid has been lining up on the gate, typically being the only 2 smoker and on a 4 year old bike to boot. How does it effect the mental game, when the guy next to you is on the newest, badest four stroke around? And how many people know that factory teams won't give you the time of day if you're on a two stroke, because you are on a " cheater bike". (as if having a ten hour 4t motor isn't cheating) So, I bought My son the latest and greatest bike to go racing with. It should hold up for a couple of valve adjustments. I also ordered the factory service manual for it. That manual is ten times thicker than the one for the two stroke! What does that tell you? It's already a time bomb.

When people walk up to him and ask about the 2010 rmz, his response is "it's pretty fun". When they ask about the 250 2t, his resposes are: "it's amazing, it handles awesome, it's really light, it's really fast. Now I'm looking at a $7,000+ blunder. Well, maybe not. 'cause right now the bike is with my son's friend and heading to Ponca and then Lorretta's. You see his 2009 2504t has blown up and after $1,000's, it still won't start. So the night before he has to leave for these national events, he has to borrow our four broke.

So this is why some of us are so serious on this site. It has gotten to where the average kid cannot afford to play. And they are all brainwashed into it. My son's friend was telling us how great the four strokes are, at the same moment that he was over to borrow ours!

P.S.: After my son raced the rmz in moto 1, he parked it and grabbed the 2 stroke for motto 2. He came back all smiles and started beggin fo another 06 rm250 2 smoker!
P.S.S.: Thanks to all the normal two stroke lovers on this site. When I get all bent outa shape on this crap you guys put some humor into it and it calms me right down!

Guess honda and mx sports are pretty tight!
Why couldn't this just be like a schoolboy 1 class? That way honda could still have their cc handicap, but other kids could show up to race as well. How can this even be classified as racing? Way to continue the assualt on the two stroke MX Sports!

Sorry, but to continue my rant a tiny bit... When I said losing the battle, I DID NOT mean losing at racing. Our two strokes are very, very competitive. What I meant was that when we line up on a gate at a big amateur event, there are on average one or two of us on a two stroke. And our bikes are the oldest ones on the gate (which is kinda funny because we get accused of having a "cheater" bike when it's 4 years older). Our heals are dug in, but I truly think the only way the trend will change is if top athletes are allowed to compete cc for cc. Then I believe sales and development will follow.

awesome videos!

Barcia and Tomac should be on 250 smokers (in the 250 class). The way they rev, would be sick!

Dude chill man, they are talking about the classes, like 450 vs 250 2t. Then obviously the 450 has more power. Once the class change their cc's then u can talk. That being said I ride a 2007 RM250.

Confused. What dude is supposed to chill, who is talking about what classes, and once what class change then who can talk about what?

I'm really not trying to be confrontational, but if we don't talk about this major problem of cc disparity in the classes it NEVER will change. We must, at every opportunity get people to realize and stop comparing a 250 to a 450, whatever the stroke. If you want a 450 because it has more power than the 250's (whatever the stroke), then say that. It is completely misleading to just say the 450 has more power. It is also completely FALSE to say that four strokes have more power than two strokes.

I remind myself why I am on here, yes, I love cruising through the great articles and pics, and seeing that there are other fans out there. But I am part of the Two Stroke Militia. I am waging my own battle way up here in Wa for this fantastic race machine, the 2 stroke. Which, by the way, if you look around , we are losing. My son is racing mx on 06's and '07's RM's. But guess what? We can't get them anymore, so to get them back to the U.S., I will kindley pipe up every single time something deragatory is said about these beloved two strokes.

6IX:
Although perhaps people are wrong for calling Deegan a fag, but you are 100% wrong in saying that a four stroke has more power. If that were the case, there would be 125cc four strokes beating 125cc two strokes. They had to build a four stroke with double the dicplacement to compete with a two stroke. It it a fact that a 250 two stroke has about ten more hp than a 250f. Do you see why people may get upset when top athletes in the sport make a false statement and damages the two stroke image even more? Do you really think the four strokes make more power cc for cc? If so, where in the heck did you learn that from?

Mr KX125 Rider,
To answer your main question, Yes I have based my opinions on my own experience on both bikes. (Except for our freinds that have blown up their 250f's and weren't riding while they were saving up the $2500+ to fix it.) The two stroke is far, far superior when it has a fair comparison. You are comparing apples and oranges. Not only are you comparing a 125 to a 250, you are comparing vastly different years of bikes! There is no comparison between a 98 and lets say a 2005 and up. There are alot of variables involved when comparing motocross bikes. Rider ability, CC vs CC, Terrain (are they motocross bikes on a track which they were built for?), vintage vs vintage, chassis maintenance, chassis set up, engine maintenance, proper jetting, ect ect. I recommend that if you want to get away from that "slow, lazy turning", take that 98 kx125 to a turn track and practice, practice, practice. It will reward you with a heck of a good time and make you faster on what ever bike you decide to get.

Not happy about the FIM 250 class, but I think this is a step in the right direction! Hey AMA, how about doing this? ( I hope it's okay to post this link)

The sanctioning bodies have allowed the 150r in the Schoolboy class, which has ruined it. We now have apples and oranges on the gate. The Schoolboy class used to be so cool because it was all 125 2t and boys that have just stepped off the 85. Now the problem isin't really the 150r, because unless it's factory built it's a turttle-not even close to being competative. The problem is that the ama let the two stroke superminis in with it, with max dicplacement of 125cc. The superminis weigh 50 lbs less and on average the kids riding them are 50 lbs less. Do the math on the power to weight! Now thanks to the ama "having to let that thing race somewhere" completely jacked up yet another class of racing. I've called and complained two years in a row on this problem and I've just been told that they have to let it race "somewhere". Now we really have three different machines in that class. Full size 125 2t's, supermini 2t's of max 125cc, and 150cc 4t's. It's such a shame. The schoolboy class was the last thing available for 125's to be on even ground, amateur wise and now it's over. They are killing the 125. At least they are letting us race the 250 2t in the 250 class, but they are not allowing it in am supercross, so I think I see the writing on the wall. Starting to wonder why I pay AMA dues!
