General Two Stroke Talk / who rides what?
« on: May 24, 2012, 03:35:02 PM »
Somehow we should open up the poll to allow multiple bikes. I see in everyones signature different bikes and brands. The poll is not accurate if we are restricted to a single bike. I posted Husqvarna because I have 6 of them, but I spend a lot of time on the Beta and Can-Am. In 2 weeks, I'll be racing the Penton and in July and August I'll be on the KTM.

And I think the point of gpnewhouse7 was that we should be BUYING new bikes and not riding old ones just to be on a 4-stroke. And he has a point. This isn't a vintage MX site, it is a site for promoting 2 strokes (and bashing 4$trokes  :P ) and the best way to get your point across is to let the manufacturers know that 1) yes you have money to spend and 2) you won't buy a 4$. Even if you bought a 2012 RM 250 (basically an '07), you are telling Suzuki loud and clear what the market wants. Not buying a new bike, and getting a used '07 just tells Suzuki you have no money.

Note: I just used Suzuki as an example. No need to go into it.

YES, there is no point in sending honda and the AMA emails and posting on their favebook walls but they aren't going to be botherd. Suzuki being out sold by KTM`s two stroke division IS an eye opener, let's face it the manufacturers build what sell and the AMA/FIM find a class for that bike to race in.

I was surprised how well my 200 did when I took that to my local mx track I could take slow corners in 3rd or 4th an just blip the clutch to blast by people on the inside and the suspension changes so much on the clickers you can take it from bottoming on the smallest bumps to barely moving on the big jumps its amazing.

Plus it gets awesome grip even in the wet like it was that day, I only crashed once all day and thatonly because one of the KXF 450s I were trying to pass spun out on a straight and I hit the side of him.

I haven't seen the mxon for a few years but I'm thinking that our best chances of winning would be to pray for terrential rain and then have David Knight cruise around the track like its bone dry an he's racing a bunch of amateurs haha or alternatively put Searle on a 250 sx an that way we atleast get to show you americans what you should be riding.

Only 1 man was standing up on the pegs, the rest were paddling around like beginners. Tommy Searle is a motrcycle rider.

Us brits are used to racing in the rain.

So many Honda's  :o

Ye for a two stroke only website we seem to support the antichrist, why don't we ride KTM's and TM`s and Yamaha`s etc? If those hondas aren't Service Honda's then we seem to be supporting the wrong people and don't think used bikes don't make any difference I bet the majority of the profit from each bike comes from the parts sales and not from the sale of the actual bike.

Come on guys support the people who support our sport. Not the ones who are trying to kill it.

I,m talking about the rear of the side plates, the only area of the plate to add style, that,s 02 and up  hondas. The jap bikes had excell wheels since about 98. The orange color works for county plow trucks and wood chippers, another industrial color is on  CAT heavy equipment, that wouldn,t look good on a bike either. In 1990 they where white with a mint green seat cover with a regular front fender, looked ok, the pros called it the Kmart bike, because of the big K on the shrouds. That front fender has to go also, too many weird pointy shapes. Think of the hood of your car, would you want a smooth lined hood or weird pointed hood. A pal of mine ownes a ktm dealership, I saw the new 2012,s there. I still don,t fit on a ktm, but honestly does anyone fit perfectly on one, I think there built for short riders, because the fit is way off for a tall rider. They have strong motors  tho, in 99 the SX 125 started showing up at the races. Everyone knew he would be up front on the start and not to follow because the bike will start cartwheeling.

I think you just have to take a minute to get used to the feel of them, I've been riding KTMs for about a year now (2003 SX 125 and now a 2008 EXC 200) and I have to say I really couldn't see myself going back to a jap bike again and after one ride on my 03 SX my mate then went and bought a 2011 SX 150 after being a honda rider all his life. But yyeah I do understand your point there by no means copying the jap bikes.

I have a 2008 KTM EXC 200, I love the bike I have but in another few years hope to either swap the engine for an old KTM 380 one or swap the bike for a CR500AF

Iv had both though not on the same bike and both times I got the bike with them already fitted so iv not got much comparison but to me I don't think they make any difference and that theyr pretty much just like exhausts that while a power increase is probably there they just dont feel to make the bike any faster. In my opinion your better spending your money on maintainance or on track time as I feel that they are both a lot better at improving laptimes, have you got your suspension set up?

I won,t be able to get on the site then, if you say you have to register threw facebook or twitter-for rich folks. I tried to reg. on facebook twice, I never received a password. I,m sure there,s 30% of others that have the same problem. I  would keep the registration as simple as possible, with a phone # listed to help people register. Because other older riders are like me, and don,t know squaut about computers. If they get jammed trying to register, they will end up being lurkers-guest. The riders from other countries will never call for help, since there time zone is way off. I  was a lurker for over 2 years, because I couldn,t get   registerd on this site. If registation is not super basic, there won,t be many folks on the site.

You sound like my dad lol

I hope you do find some way of keeping the old posts though because I found them all really interesting, before I joined I read through almost every post on here.

General Two Stroke Talk / KDX 200 or a KTM 200
« on: April 23, 2012, 11:14:08 PM »
Or buys a kdx 200 motor and puts it in the yzf roller  ;D
That sounds like one epic enduro bike especially if the suspension was set up right for him.
