General Two Stroke Talk / Re: PC A Kitted RM250
« on: April 19, 2011, 06:23:45 AM »
Does any one know how A-kit suspension compares to aftermarket brands such as ohlins? Because in england A-kit front and rear is £6000, but an ohlins shock can be had for around the £1000 mark

soo you can ride with a helmet cam in the ama supercross

but you can't in the  amatour series?

you got it, but there are several other organisations running ametuer events in england, and as far as I know helmet cams are legal in their races...

Technical / Re: 3 Piece bar clamps
« on: April 19, 2011, 06:12:56 AM »
The rm came standard with rubber mounted bar clamps, on my kx85 I had a few years back the bar clamps were all part of the casting of the upper triple, and after a big crash I got back on with what I thought were bent bars, but later discovered the bars were straight and the steering stem was out of shape, that was with renthal 7/8 bars, so a set of £30 bars cost me £200 in a set of new yokes, I always trust everything from renthal now, there stuff is often stronger than the bike its bolted to ;D

"0.25 Litre Engine enhanced by stronger fuel Jets"

What does this mean?

0.25 Litre = 250cc, stronger jets must be because old ones were weak and broke, being such a high stress part............... lol  ;D

Fast whoops/rythem section, 7 in the set, i tried to go triple triple single, but cased the second triple, the front dropped into the dip really heavy and went straight over the bars, the bike landed on the bars on the upslope of the last one, i know why it broke, its because the clamps are rubber mounted on the upper triple, so they tried to move more but the solid square piece clamping the bars wouldnt let them, ive ordered some different clamps that have 2 separate bar clamps, rather than one, if any of that makes sense lol

There could be a couple reason's:
1. There is a possibility that the point of the camera could push through the helmet on impact(or so they say.) This could be fixed by mounting it on the bill of the helmet or to the bike.
2. It is easier to have a lawsuit against the track if you have video footage.
3. They're just assholes.  ;D
I think the problem was that people were drilling holes in their helmet to mount the HC, but it shouldn't be a problem when you use Velcro or a suction cup.

I think your right with number 3  ;), but after checking the rule book for that organisiation it specifcally states that helmet cam's arent allowed, but i usually ride with other organisations, it seems some rules are thought up by people in offices wearing suits, rather than people interested in racing...

Technical / 3 Piece bar clamps
« on: April 18, 2011, 11:06:21 AM »
My one piece clamps turned into 3 piece after going over the bars in the whoops section yesterday, happened on lap one of a 15 min + 1 lap race, and I finished the race and got back up to my best finish of the day! But the bars were held with the left side of the clamp only, the right side has split where it clamps the bar, could have ended much worse than it did, all i did was chomp on my tounge really hard when I landed on my head. Bike is a 2011 rm250

No, it should never bottom out, within reason, on my shock it has bottom out controll, but thats a fox podium, but if you set the sag up first, then play with the clickers to fine tune it you should get it working good

then i need to compress the spring and then i wil gett around 80mm race sag? less free sag less racesag?

Sorry, I meant to say set 30 ish and try and get 95, you should get a happy medium somewhere very close to perfect

...But when I went to the start line with my go pro i was made to take it off, for health and safety reasons?! Has anyone else been told this? It really annoyed me, ive not long had the camera and only used it on my race bike once :(

I got a new rm250 in january and wondered the same thing, i think its to stop too much dust getting onto the air filter, I still use it, there wont be any power gains if you take it off, and suzuki must have a reason for putting it there

if i got 28mm free sag and 90mm static sag do i need a softer spring then?

Your about on the limit, you could try setting free sag at 25 and if you get 95 static then it should be good, but talk to a suspension guy if your unsure, but your not massivley out :)

if i may borow this thred for a question? i hawe a honda cr 125 tunder by srs. how mutch race sag should i have? and so on? greatfull for awnsers!

as a genral rule, all mx bikes should be around 25mm static sag and 100mm race sag when your sat on the bike. And for the guy running 120mm rear race sag, have you tried harder forks? maybe they are diving too much?

Technical / Re: holeshot device
« on: April 13, 2011, 04:58:13 AM »
I still think that a holeshot device is pointless, ive pulled holeshots without one, i still think theyre a gimmick, if your got enough grip to wheelie off the line then your sat too far back is what id say..
