General Two Stroke Talk / Dungey on a 125
« on: June 27, 2012, 01:22:20 AM »
JM came up when 2t's still ruled the tracks, I am not surprised that he said that... most other Pro riders would probably say on payday, it is 4t all the way... it is what it is.

you would think this would have been a big deal... but maybe John Q. Public is still more interested in the 4t?..... or simply was a last minute appearance? (I rode my KTM 125 today and loved every minute of it!!!)

General Two Stroke Talk / Fi/DI or Carb
« on: June 25, 2012, 10:41:49 AM »
I don't much care for the 4 strokes these days(had many)... But I love the the FI and the ability to change mapping in a matter of minutes. I imagine this feature will be available on the upcoming 2 strokes and really look forward to it. Plus, if this is what it takes to keep 2 strokes alive, then I am all for it..... Otherwise the beloved powerplant of choice will eventually disappear or become a curiosity.

That quad could carry a whole camp's worth Of beer with it's rack system!

well, if you talk to the Brits like I did, several times... they say they have but are in legal limbo.... if you talk to Herr Kostler, he is still the Maico man... still fighting over actual ownership of the Maico name. Brits claim it is still owned by a Dutch fellow and that Kostler never owned it... but somehow things are still tied up in the courts and thus preventing MI from releasing parts/bikes/etc... Yawn...sigh....

I am the self professed leader of the shamed Maico faithful and needless to say... I still hang my head in shame... I still want to believe, but I think it will never happen and have finally moved on. TM or OSSA/GG will gladly accept my money in '13, so there it will be spent.

145
Yes^.... i have had a deposit on mine since the first day it was released to the public. I am not holding my breath however and with the OSSA/GG, who knows what will happen.

4 strokes definitely carry their sound in a different manor, not to mention, they are just louder... especially when you have dopes that think noise=power. I do remember the old days when 4t's were odd and cool however(still loud though with the old Super Trapp)...

147
for me it was mainly the weight/noise (thanks beaner)and possible failure of all the moving parts... I have had a plethora of 4t's over the years too. Husky 610, Husaberg 600/501, YZ 400, VOR 503, etc... all tanks... Contrary to a lot of the rhetoric here, they were pretty reliable and fast. It is/was all about the maintenance to prevent most failures. That being said, I have had way more two strokes and ultimately prefer the lighter weight and excitement of the way the power is put out and things of that nature. Ultimately have gone back to the beginning for me and 2 stroke til the end of my days.

Haha... I understand Ford, just couldn't resist. I am by no means a KTM loyalist... Good is good and sometimes you just like a bike . I am not even a Tech guy, but appreciate different thinking , looks, etc...

Wait.... That isn't a Yamaha?!?!

I love my Flexx Bars.....

I hate my MSR Elite boots... I bought them as a back up/mud boot and they are the stiffest boot I have ever used. Impossible to break in... I will never use them again.
