Or better yet....

Audio?

LOL

One quick question on the setup. Could you have used a single injector -- just on one side? Seems to me like the fuel/air coming in from the transfers would get pretty mixed up in the combustion chamber as the piston does the compression thing. Might be an interesting experiment that could possibly simplify the system a touch. What electricity source are you using for the pump/computers? Does the 450F stator have enough juice for the setup? Are you running a battery?

I dont recon youd start getting uneven combustion, as it really doesnt mix that much because the aim is to have a little turbulence as possible in the intake charge to limit mixing between the exhaust gas and fresh gases.

I like old stuff but a vintage mag catering to a bunch of old buggers from butt-fruck nowhere Australia is likely not the definitive authority on the off road motorcycle world.I followed the link but do find there are far too many pictorials for my liking. :D
As I look over my shoulder at my bookshelf I see a few interesting titles-Captain Scott,War and Peace,The Brothers Karamazov(I find Russian novels a bit dry-maybe it's the translation)Chesapeake(Michener-any of his are fantastic)When the Chestnut was in Flower(Chestnut Canoe history)The Invasion of Canada(Pierre Berton-Canadian History)and the Qur'an to name a few
Captain Scott did have few pics of his ill fated expedition though. If a Vintage off road bike mag from Oz is your benchmark for literary excellence Evo then well, good for you.Just so you know though, there are far better things out there read by others-even in the illiterate "Americas"   ;)

Can you post that pic racerx,i forget which it was,I guess my mind is slipping :(

I think evo's point still holds because all of those texts were published long before "idiocracy" took hold. Great movie

uniflow,
so as not to get offtopic any more:

Can you email me with a ballpark of what you think it would cost to mate a gearbox up to that motor + produce the motor.
you made the very smart choice to put the gear in between cylinders 1 and 2!

I think I wouldn't mind building a 1070 triple in a year or two once the other projects are out of the way

Problem I've seen with the triples (banshee billet triple motors) is that the width is extraordinary because the clutch gear is on the end of the crankshaft.
So the motor is the width of a triple plus a clutch basket.

Is it possible to put the clutch gear between cylinders 2 and 3?
That would do wonders for making the engine compact :)

Still doesn't answer my question about porting after you bore oversize.

and no, you dont HAVE to do porting when you perform an overbore.

52
Definitely not a simple bolt on.  Still doesn't answer my question about porting after you bore oversize.

Why wouldn't it be a straight swap? the crank cases are the same!

The answer to your question is that there is no point doing either (porting or boring) to an early RM125 engine because you can get far better gains from installing the newer style RM motor.

General Two Stroke Talk / KTM REVEALS SOME PLANS FOR HUSQVARNA
« on: April 30, 2013, 02:55:27 AM »
yes but to me it just seems like a step towards having KTM's rebadged as Huskies.

If they shared chassis thats ok, but aslong as the plastics are a different design and the engines have some differences I will be happy.

A husky engine slotted into a KTM frame with Husky plastics would be OK in my books.

What would you do to make a modern 2 stroke 125 last through a  mile (1.6 km) of wide open riding?

I've set some automotive land speed records. I have a built Honda 125 4 stroke to go after those records, probably this season. I was looking at the 125 2 stroke modified records, and they're very low. Since my 04 RM 125 is surplus (and fresh) right now, I was wondering what you would do to try and make it last through a half dozen mile passes?

Hmm maybe a FMF snarly pipe and a shorty silencer, some head mods and port work?
haha
funny man.

no expansion chambers mate :) thats why

its more about being a simple, reliable, light weight, compact and fuel efficient package that makes the same hp as a comparable 4 stroke.

Just google ApT (American performance technologies) smart carb

Technical / Sound Testing unfair to the two stroke
« on: April 23, 2013, 09:22:38 AM »
they are big differences in sound!

Keep in mind that the decibel scale is not linear it is exponential

If my math is still up to scratch there is a 151% difference between a bike with 108dB and a bike with 112bB0.

higher ratio's of premix, 50-55 degree C thermostat, EGT guage and coolant temp guage to monitor the bike during the run, jetting dialled in perfectly.
