2011 ktm's
« on: June 23, 2010, 10:33:08 AM »
i weigh 200 pounds and im 6 foot. i race the intermediate class and plan to go pro at the end of the year.

yesterday i got a chance to ride all of the 2011 ktm's. the bikes were so awesome. my favorite for of the day had to be the 150 though. the little 150 pulled me around the track like it was nothing... it was probably the third fastest bike they have.... i rode the 250f and it was a slug, i was actually quiet disappointed on how slow it felt. i was nearly blown away at how fast the 150 was. i still am!!! i personally think it could easily beat there 250f and alot of other brand 250f's...

i dont mind racing 4strokes, so im not going to say that any of them truly suck.... but i would love to see 2 strokes come back no matter what, i personally think i ride the 2stroke better...

now the other favorite bike of the day had to go to the new ktm 350... this bike was awesome.. the throttle response was perfect, engine was very strong off the bottom and pulled all the way through the power. never once felt like i had to shift. when riding it felt pretty flick able like a 250f but had the power of a 450. the bike felt super stable, never once felt like it was going wash out or do something weird.

seriously though. the magazines are going to love these new bikes

You are a  lucky man to be able to taste all of them in one day. Did your dealer have some kind of outing? You did not mention the 250 2t though, this probably would have been your pick of the day!

it was a ktm deal they had going on. all the north west dealers received invites to send out.

i actually have my own ktm 250 2stroke. its a 07 so i was planning on being pretty excited on the 250 2stroke. im not sure if it was the one they had there and just being ridin all day, it felt like it had 10 times more vibrations then mine. almost to were i didnt want to hang on. the motor felt the same to mine, the suspension wasnt set up for me but it felt plush and absorbed a lot of the bumps. other then feeling like it was going to rattle apart for some reason the bike was awesome.

"...seriously though. the magazines are going to love these new bikes..."

All the magazines except MXA and Dirt Bike. AMA hates these bikes, especially the 150. If they were a Japanese brand then they would love it (since the AMA is controlled by the Big 4). The Big 4 controls everything about MXA and Dirt Bike and simply won't let them do much coverage of the 150 or pit it against any of the 250Fs. MXA and Dirt Bike will usually test this bike by itself or with the 250SX, but never against a Japanese 250F. In fact, they usually provide hop up articles for he YZ125 and 250 and leave out the 150 on purpose. Once we realize that Daisy-High Torque Publishing is the enemy the better.

I have sent a copy of this reply to MXA and Dirt Bike (one of about 50), which they will never reply since they are scared to

I got to ride the 2011's today and I was also surprised at how good the 150 was. Strangely I also felt the 250sx was a bit down on power but I rode it after I rode the 350sx. The 350sx was great, it was easy to ride as it does not have to much power but you can still get away with being lazy on it. Overall I am not a fan of KTM's, to me they feel very bulky and wide but I would love to spend more time on the 150sx!
